Gunnerside is a quaint, former lead-mining village in Swaledale and is located at the base of Gunnerside Gill which is a narrow, rocky gorge where remains of the village's mining past can be found. The village is ideally located and walkers are able to join up with the Coast to Coast route or enjoy strolls through picturesque countryside where rolling fields and dales are separated by crisscrossing dry stone walls. There's a village pub in Gunnerside and a part time post office but for a greater range of shops, restaurants, tea rooms and attractions the Yorkshire Dales market town of Leyburn is just 30 minutes away by car. You can find out more about the local area at The Dales Countryside Museum in Hawes or why not pay a visit to Aysgarth Falls, a beautiful three tiered waterfall close to Leyburn.
