This captivating dwelling is in Gunnerside, a picturesque village with Gunnerside Beck running through it. It’s in an enviable spot within the Yorkshire Dales National Park, offering wonderful opportunities for scenic walks taking in traditional farm meadows and pastures. If you’re an outdoorsy type, you’ll find plenty to do here, whether that’s hiking, cycling or rock climbing. Or you can simply enjoy the incredible views from the comfort of a pub garden.

Dating back to the late 17th century, the cottage has been lovingly restored with its original charm well respected. Features like a stone-built bread oven, exposed stone floors and ancient ceiling beams create a lovely rustic ambience, while quality wooden fixtures, tufted sofas and sash windows all add to the traditional elegance. The spacious farmhouse-style kitchen serves as the heart of the home and features a Rayburn oven plus a Nespresso coffee machine so you can start each day the right way. Enjoy group meals at the large dining table before retiring to the cosy snug, which has stunning views of Swaledale, or to one of two living areas, each with a wood burner for toasty evenings. Outside, you’ll have a south-facing terrace where you can dine alfresco during the warmer months.

You’ll be 150 metres from a Grade II-listed, traditional Dales pub where you can soak up the local atmosphere over a delicious pint. There are wonderful trails starting from the village, taking in old mining ruins, woodland and open countryside. Feel invigorated by local waterfalls like Hardraw Force (10 miles) and Aysgarth Falls (10.5 miles). In the nearby village of Reeth (6 miles), explore old stone houses and pop in for coffee and cake in the tearooms, and visit its weekly market if you’re there on a Friday.
