A lovely, comfortable cottage. Well-furnished and equipped. The views from the cottage were wonderful. We didn't do any walks but there were many footpaths around and the landscape of Swaledale and around is breathtaking even for sightseeing by car. I would definitely recommend this cottage.

Thistlebout is a traditional Dales farmhouse that still has an air of history about it - even though it has been superbly modernised and fitted out with the very best equipment. For example my bathroom had a tiny window fitted to allow light in from the original ventilation slit that had kept the hay dry for hundreds of years! Another example werRead moree the beautiful stone-tiled floors that were a joy to walk on because of the underfloor heating! And of course situated high up above Swaledale the views from the cottage were outstanding. I really cannot praise this place enough. Hide

Wow! I have holidayed in cottages in and around Gunnerside over the years, what a surprise when i opened the door. The cottage has been decorated to a very high standard. it was spotless and very pleasant. It was comfortable in all areas and everything was supplied, we didn't in our stay ask for anything we couldn't find. Tissues, hand soap lots ofRead more extras in the cottage, it was a home from home. Plenty of books, games etc for rainy days or just sit at the window and admire the fantastic view and animals frequenting the garden and fields. Not once was we cold, underfloor heating kept us warm everyday although it was February in the Dales. If you want peace and quite to get away from everything this is the cottage for you. On the Sunnyside of the valley so frost goes quickly. Room for 2 cars in front of the cottage but no area to turn around outside the gate if you have a large car. The owners of this cottage have gone to great Lengths to make your stay as comfortable as possible; I would like to thank them for their effort in rebuilding and decorating it has been done to a very high standard, the best cottage so far in the price range. I will definitely be a returning customer for this cottage, for me it was a most enjoyable break. 10/10 and 5stars. Hide
