The small farming village of Sancton is close to the Yorkshire Wolds towns of Market Weighton and Beverley. The village lies on the route of two Roman roads and many important artefacts were discovered during an excavation of the Anglo-Saxon cemetary; these are displayed in the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford. Today, the Yorkshire Wolds Way long distance National Trail skirts the village giving direct access for exploring the Wolds on foot.
