Raw cottages

Travelling between Whitby and Scarborough, it would be very easy to miss the turn to the tiny hamlet of Raw. It's position, just over a mile from Robin Hood's Bay, makes it popular for visitors who want to be close to this beautiful area of the Yorkshire coast, yet away from the crowds. The historic port of Whitby is just five miles away by road. If you like to be active, take the eight mile coastal path, part of the Cleveland Way long distance National Trail, enjoying spectacular views along the way and passing the magnificent Whitby Abbey which towers above the town.

Raw lies within the North York Moors National Park and a short trip inland gives access to the vast expanse of heather moorland typical of this area. Picturesque villages and market towns dot the landscape and provide a great day out if you like to potter around and soak up the traditions of this part of Yorkshire.
