Self-catering holiday cottages in West Yorkshire

The largest of the three Ridings, West Yorkshire is home to the buzzy cities of Leeds and Bradford, both of which will keep you occupied with their shopping and colourful culture. The region also boasts some stunning scenery to the north, where the Yorkshire Dales, including the much-visited Nidderdale and Wharfedale tempt visitors with their beauty. To the north-west of the region, the West Riding scales the dramatic Pennines, where climbers and explorers can challenge themselves to reach the summit of the famous Pen-y-Ghent.

The county’s textile heritage is evident by the factories and mills dotted all around – you really get a taste of Yorkshire history here with old worker’s cottages deep in the moorland, not to mention the large buildings and chimneys shaped by the Industrial Revolution that dominate the cities. Lovers of the classics should pay a visit to the literary mecca of Haworth, home of the Brontë sisters, while keen historians can visit the castles and churches of the area, making sure to schedule in a trip to the spectacular Leeds Minster. Fans of the TV show Last of the Summer Wine should also pay a visit to the town of Holmfirth, where the long-running show was filmed and locations from the show can still be seen today.

When it’s time to head back to charge your batteries for the next day’s adventures, cosy up at one of our cottages in West Yorkshire. We have a superb portfolio of self-catering holiday cottages throughout West Yorkshire, from cosy retreats for two to large spaces for all the family.
