Hawsker-cum-Stainsacre is the area just to the south of Whitby, making it a good location for a cottage holiday away from the often crowded town. The small village of Stainsacre has a welcoming pub, The Windmill, in its midst which serves great homemade cuisine. It is just a two mile walk or drive into Whitby and easy access to the local Sainsburys for all your grocery needs. Also within the town are some well-known high street stores plus a great variety of individual shops, tearooms, pubs and restaurants.

Stainsacre holiday cottages make an ideal base for touring both the Yorkshire Coast and the North York Moors. In the next village of Hawsker you can hire bicycles, perfect for cycling the Cinder Track, which uses the disused railway line linking Whitby to Scarborough. You can also find some great cycle trails in the North York Moors National Park.
