Wherever you stay in Yorkshire in November and early December, you won’t be far from a Craft and Gift Fair – perfect for picking up that special something for a loved one at Christmas. Bedale Bonfire - 7th November
The Bedale Bonfire and Fireworks Display takes place every year on the Saturday near to Guy Fawkes's Night, and is renowned as one of the finest displays in Yorkshire. Located in historic Bedale Park with the imposing facade of Bedale Hall as a backdrop, residents and visitors are treated to a spectacular firework display and the warmth of the Bedale Bonfire.
The display is often set to music, and young and old alike can enjoy adding their contribution to the event with novelty torches and lights which are available on the night.
The 2020 Bedale Bonfire and Fireworks Display will be held on Saturday 7th November. Gates open at 5.15pm and the event closes at 8.45pm.
Scarborough Sparkle, Open Air Theatre, Scarborough - 27th - 29th November 2020
Set at the Scarborough Open Air Theatre, Scarborough Sparkle is a magical and enchanting Christmas wonderland on the North Bay of Scarborough. With Christmas themed shopping and entertainment, delicious food and drink, festive music and even an ice rink.
Christmas at Castle Howard - dates tbc
Christmas at Castle Howard is a spectacle like no other. Every one of the grand state rooms of this magnificent house is decorated in a festive theme and is open daily throughout the Christmas period. Open fires, candle light and live music evoke all that we love about this special time of year, with the iconic 25 foot traditional Christmas tree adorned with over 3000 baubles providing a breath-taking highlight in the Great Hall. There's also the chance to meet Father Christmas plus complete your Christmas shopping in the gift shops and farm shop.
Christmas Craft Fair - The Moors National Park Centre, Danby - dates tbc
In the run up to Christmas, this is the perfect opportunity to get your hands on some original handmade gifts. Scented soaps, crafts, handmade chocolates, jewellery, ceramics and tree decorations are just a few of the seasonal goods which will be on offer. Join Santa and his special helpers on a magical adventure aboard the Santa Express, which will take you on a festive journey you won’t forget!
Krampus Run, Whitby - 5th December 2020
In parts of Europe on the eve of the Feast of St. Nicholas, the Saint visits homes to give gifts to good children. He is accompanied by his dark counterpart the Krampus, who teases and punishes naughty children. Whitby's own particular interpretation will includes a costume parade and other events.
Harrogate Christmas Market - 12th -15th December 2020
With record numbers having attended last year's 6th annual Harrogate Christmas Market event, the next one is set to be even better! Held in the Montpellier Quarter of the town, there's everything from local Yorkshire produce such as cheese to handmade gifts and crafts which would make perfect Christmas presents. Besides all of this, gorge yourself in the Food and Drink Marquee and enjoy the entertainments including musical performances and children's funfair rides.
Victorian Weekend, Robin Hood's Bay - 4th - 6th December 2020
During the first weekend of each December, the coastal village of Robin Hood's Bay takes a step back in time and visitors are transported back to the Victorian Era. With historical enthusiasts donning Victorian costume in addition to some of the locals, it definitely feels like the old times. Special events which take place over the weekend include the Christmas tree exhibition, open cottages and games in the dock.

Whitby and District Lions Boxing Day Dip - 26th December 2020
Being an annual local tradition, what better way to blow away the cobwebs after Christmas than heading to Whitby beach and taking a dip in the North Sea?! With most participants taking to the water in fancy dress costumes in order to raise money for charity, whether you're joining in or merely spectating this event makes for a great morning of family fun!

Starting with a lantern parade and the annual switch on of the town's Christmas lights, The Whitby Christmas Festival is a weekend long event full of festive treats, stalls, music, entertainment and of course Santa will be there.
St. Nicholas Christmas Fair, York - 12th November - 23rd December
York's Christmas Market, St Nicholas Fair, won Best Large Speciality Market at the Great British Market Awards in 2019. It's back this year with more Christmassy fun, fantastic festive food stalls, mulled wine and beer tents, local produce and beautiful crafts.
Christmas Gift & Food Fair - Ripon Cathedral - 21st November
With over 100 local traders selling seasonal goodies to help you find that perfect present, making Christmas Shopping enjoyably, whilst supporting local, independent businesses. Visit Santa in his grotto, and enjoy turkey sandwiches and mulled wine, whilst listening to carols, all in the beautiful setting of Ripon Cathedral – the perfect festival day out!
Winter Wonderland, Tennants Auction House, Leyburn - dates tbc
The annual Winter Wonderland Christmas fair held in the Garden Rooms at Tennants Auction House in Leyburn welcomes over 90 designer and artisan stalls over 2 floors offering a fantastic array of unique gifts.
