Description

Barn Owl Cottage is a comfortable and cosy holiday home with an open fire and ceiling beams in the bright open plan lounge, dining, and kitchen area. The cottage is set in a peaceful location close to the market square in Masham, and is fully equipped, with a warm cosy fire to settle down and relax in front of after a day out in the Dales. Masham is a thriving community with a market on Wednesdays and Saturdays, where you can mix with the locals as you buy fresh veg and local produce.  There are craft shops, galleries, tearooms, restaurants, and several pubs serving good food - in fact, most needs are catered for locally. You can also sample some superb real ales at each of the two breweries in the village, both having restaurants.

What we love about this property: Barn Owl Cottage is a delightful slightly upside-down cottage with two of its bedrooms located on the ground floor and the living area upstairs.

GROUND FLOOR:
Front door leads to spacious open vestibule with seating area in which you can sit and take off your boots after a day walking in the Dales.
Bedroom 1: A Twin-bedded room with wardrobe, bedside table and dressing table.  An en suite bathroom with electric shower, wash basin, toilet and heated towel rail complete this lovely bedroom
Bedroom 2: A further light Twin-Bedded room, with wardrobe, dressing table & seat.

Upstairs to the:
FIRST FLOOR
Lounge/Diner: A welcoming open plan area with smart TV & Freeview, open coal fire, dining table and chairs to which you can enjoy a drink and relax.
Kitchen: Electric oven, halogen hob, dishwasher, fridge with freezer compartment, microwave, washing machine, toaster, kettle.
Bedroom 3: A Double bedroom with a gentleman’s wardrobe, bedside tables, and dressing table.
Bathroom: Beautiful corner bath, with overhead shower and screen, toilet, washbasin, and heated towel rail make for a lovely relaxing soak after a day exploring the area.

Pets: Accepted – Max 2 dogs
Parking: On street in the marketplace. Drop off point outside the property.
Heating: Nest controlled gas central heating system. With open coal fire which will be made up on arrival with a scuttle of coal besides the hearth.
Short breaks: Not accepted at peak times.
Notes: Towels and linen are provided. Please note the fire will be made up on arrival with a complimentary scuttle of coal to use, however you will have to purchase further supplies if you wish to use the fire.
Pub, Cafe & Shop: 150 metres

With excellent walking from the doorstep, cycle routes and numerous attractions to visit there are plenty of activities to pass your time. A short drive away you will find the lovely towns of Leyburn, Bedale and Northallerton with their unique shops and plenty of places to eat and drink. If you feel even more adventurous and want to make the absolute most of your holiday you can discover what the area has to offer further afield and venture into the three National Parks, the Yorkshire Dales, North York Moors and the Lake District, all waiting to be explored!

Masham (pronounced as Mass’em) has plenty to offer its visitors, located in the stunning countryside of Lower Wensleydale, it provides the perfect base to explore the rest of the Yorkshire Dales and Moors. The popular market towns of Ripon, Harrogate, Thirsk, Skipton, York, Leeds and Richmond with all their attractions are only 20-60 minutes’ drive away. The buzz of Hull City of Culture, the magic of Durham or the excitement of the Lake District are all within 90 minutes’ drive. But there’s plenty to keep the visitor occupied in Masham town itself with two breweries, tea rooms and Dales pubs all serving hearty meals, it is a great place to holiday.
