Thoroughly recommended. We arrived at start of Storm Ciara but with the provisions in cottage (coal/wood) for open fire and tea/coffee and local shop info we were able to hunker down and be cosy. Neighbours very helpful and informative too (but not intrusive) so you're in good hands all round. Beautiful cottage and spectacular area.

Mrs Nicola B,

Area Information

West Witton
West Witton is a small village situated in one of the most beautiful areas of the country, between Leyburn and Hawes in the stunning Yorkshire Dales National Park.  The village has a small shop and two popular pubs, it is also home to the award winning fish restaurant, The Wensleydale Heiffer.  There are many walks from the door including the five mile waterfalls walk.  The ancient ritual of burning Bartle takes place in the village every year, a larger than life effigy of 'Bartle' is paraded around the village, complete with glowing eyes.  Bartle stops at various strategic places to recite the doggerel, before finally being burnt at Grassgill End to much merry singing (as seen on ITV's The Dales).
