Lace up your walking boots and head out along the Pennine Way or simply relax and take in the views of Pen-Y-Ghent when you stay at this former railway cottage in Horton-in-Ribblesdale. Sleeping three guests, and also welcoming dogs, the two-bedroom holiday home is an ideal base for anyone wishing to immerse themselves in the natural beauty of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

Make your way inside via the front door and find yourselves in an open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. Put your shopping away in the cupboards and fridge and brew a cup of tea to enjoy with the Yorkshire fat rascals you have bought from a bakery. Pull a chair up to the table in the kitchen area or wander over to the sofas to sit back and relax in the lounge space. Watch the Smart TV or a DVD or listen to music through the Bluetooth speaker as you chat about your day. Light the wood burner in here to throw out a warming glow during the autumn and winter months. When eyelids begin to droop, make your way up to the first floor of the cottage to enjoy a good night’s sleep in either the king-size bedroom, which has a TV/DVD, or the single. There is a family shower room with underfloor heating. Have morning coffee out in the seating area to the front of the property or in the back garden where you can take in the views and watch the trains go by. There is space to store bicycles and to park one car at the cottage.

Keen hikers might like to attempt Pen-Y-Ghent, Hull Pot or Ribblehead viaduct all within a 4-mile radius of the cottage. Head out along the Pennine Way for an exhilarating stretch too, perhaps walking 14 miles all the way to Hawes.

Lovely property. Extremely comfy bed with good quality bed linen and comfy settee. Apart from a couple of small issues, the cleanliness was very good. The kitchen had a reasonable amount of equipment for a holiday let. The heating worked well and the log burner was a beauty. Nice view out of the back of the cottage. A lovely cottage for three of us, down a little lane lined with daffodils. The cottage was light and airy but warm and cosy in the evenings. It was peaceful and quiet and the trains didn't intrude on this. There was a good sized parking space for our van. In a beautiful location, great for tackling each of the three peaks. A lovely cottage set in a beautiful rural location. The neighbouring cottages made us very welcome and were on hand for advice. I would recommend this if you are looking for peace and quiet. The noise from passing trains was barely noticeable.

Lovely cosy cottage, very well equipped. Front garden fully secure for our active Spaniel, however the rear garden is not secure as low dividing wall. Very friendly and helpful neighbours. Wonderful walking in area even in October. Please be aware some routes have cows therefore take care when walking with dogs. Would highly recommend.

A lovely comfortable place to stay, dog friendly and very well equipped with friendly neighbours too. The information and instructions provided by the owners were the best we have come across in many years of self catering holidays. Unfortunately tRead morehe weather wasn't too kind to us and we were not able to take advantage of sitting in the garden and enjoying the views but my husband, as a railway fan, loved not only staying in a railway cottage but also seeing a steam special running past on a day when we decided not to venture out because of Storm Amy!
