Suitability for Guest with Physical Disabilities

The Apartment is built on several  levels as it is constructed into the hillside behind the main Whitehaven Building.

Entrance to the apartment is via the first floor of the Whitehaven building this is up some 24 steps from the front door of the Building.

The bedroom is off this entrance hall and the lounge and bathroom are accessed via a staircase with a sharp bend at the top. The kitchen and dining area are located down a few stairs from the far end of the lounge.

This apartment is therefore not suitable for either handicapped or immobile guests.

The nearest bus stop is outside the Village shop 50 metres away.

The nearest train station is in Whitby some 4 miles away.

The nearest food shop is the Village store which is 50 meters away, it has restricted opening hours. Supermarkets located in Whitby some 4 miles away.

The nearest Pub/Restaurant are the Beach Hotel next door or the Hart Inn some 250 metres away.

The nearest petrol is in Whitby some 4 miles away.

Free On street parking available outside of the Flat but can be difficult to find a space.

Description

This apartment is situated on the first floor of an impressive sea front Victorian house in Sandsend. It is completely self-contained, retains many original features and, being situated at the rear of the property, has partial sea views.The beach is literally across the road and when the tide is out, it is possible to walk to Whitby. It benefits from its own enclosed small patio area to the side of the property.

Entrance: Shared entrance with stairs leading to the first floor where Flat 4 is located.

FIRST FLOOR:
Bedroom: Double bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers and washbasin.

En suite Shower Room: Shower and toilet.

SECOND FLOOR:
Bathroom:
Large jacuzzi bath, toilet and washbasin.
Lounge: A sunny room with a bed settee and large bay window with sea views to Whitby abbey, TV with video, radio/CD player.
Kitchen/Diner: Very spacious room with gas fired AGA with three ovens, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and fridge freezer. Table and chairs. French doors leading out to the patio.

Pets: One dog welcome
Parking: On-street parking or alternatively there is a council car park a few minutes' walk away.
Heating: Gas central heating.
Patio: Small pretty patio area with garden furniture.
Short breaks: Not accepted at peak times.
Notes: Towels are provided. As the stairs in this property are quite steep it may not be suitable for people with mobility problems. WiFi is not available. Mobile phone signal is variable. No smoking at this property.

Sandsend
Sandsend, one of North Yorkshire's prettiest coastal villages, is set at the foot of Lythe Bank and only a two mile beach walk away from Whitby. Pretty holiday cottages and houses are set in the stunning cliff backdrop. Beneath them is the award-winning beach, with streams leading to the sea, perfect for children to have a splash in or feed the ducks. Alternatively a walk in the neighbouring woodlands or along the cliffs is equally as charming. Originally Sandsend was two separate villages, each formed along its own beck, it now stands as one united village. There are interesting shops, an award-winning restaurant, cafes, pubs and an art gallery. With beautiful views of the coastline and its famous historic neighbour, Whitby, it is a truly magical place.
