Home to underground caves and one of the prettiest waterfall walks in Yorkshire, Ingleton is a brilliant base to experience spectacular natural formations. Close to the iconic Ribblehead Viaduct, you can either admire its 24 arches from below or enjoy spectacular views aboard the Settle to Carlisle Railway. It’s also well worth heading to Settle (around 10 miles from Ingleton) for the town’s regular Tuesday market and stopping for a cuppa at the quirkily named Ye Olde Naked Man cafe.

Outdoor (and indoor) adventures in the Yorkshire Dales National Park

Surrounded by hills and mountains and right on the doorstep of Ingleborough, one of the famous Yorkshire Three Peaks, Ingleton makes a great base for walking, climbing and family adventures in the western reaches of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Bring your bike to your Ingleton accommodation and tackle the Way of the Roses or Pennine Cycleway, or stay on your own two feet for a scenic walk along the 4.5-mile Ingleton Waterfall Trail with six wonderful waterfalls, including the thundering Thornton Force to spot along the route.

Don your hard hat and head deep underground to see the longest show cave in England at White Scar Cave, which includes an underground waterfall and weird and wonderful formations such as The Witch’s Fingers and The Judge’s Head. You can also explore Ingleborough Cave with stalactites and stalagmites lying beneath Ingleborough Mountain. Refuel with tea and homemade cake in one of the village's welcoming cafés, pubs or tearooms or pick up some artisan bread and cakes from Seasons Bakery to take back to your holiday cottage or for a riverside picnic at nearby Bentham Moor.

While there’s lots to do outdoors, those who like to be all warm and toasty can wander around Lord’s Antiques and Vintage, home to one of the largest reclamation yards in the UK and around 80 individual antiques dealers.
