Helperthorpe cottages
Lying on the edge of the Yorkshire Wolds, the pretty village of Helperthorpe, with its wide village green, is a great place to enjoy a self catering break. The village is surrounded by the rolling hills typical of the Wolds landscape. Quieter than many areas in North Yorkshire, Helperthorpe is ideal for those wanting to enjoy some peace and quiet and yet be within easy reach of York and the fantastic towns and villages of the Yorkshire Coast. The Wolds market town of Driffield is just 20 minutes away by car with a wide range of shops, supermarkets, restaurants and pubs and the village of West Lutton is just 5 minutes away with a great local pub, the Three Tuns Inn.
In the village of Helperthorpe there is a Victorian church with a magnificent oak panelled roof designed for Sir Tatton Sykes II in 1871. Other great places to visit in the area include Eden camp, a modern history museum 10 miles away in Malton, Filey beach (12 miles away) and The Scarborough Fair Collection (30 minutes away by car) which has a superb exhibit of carousels, fairground rides and steam engines.
