This beautiful coastal bolthole is just the right size for two and a short stroll from the dog-friendly beach at Hunmanby Gap, a wide stretch of sand that you can walk along to the nearby town of Filey. Hidden Gem | Sleeps 2 + 2 dogs

Tucked away near the beach in the very pretty village of Robin Hood’s Bay, Hidden Gem is a traditional 17th-century fishing cottage that’s as characterful and cosy as can be, with ceiling beams and an original cast-iron fireplace.

You’ll find an array of pubs, cafes and restaurants in the maze of streets that surround the cottage, but if you do fancy eating in, there’s a well-equipped kitchen where you can rustle up supper.

 Why we think you’ll love it

  • Outside space is a bit of a rarity in Robin Hood’s Bay, but Hidden Gem has a terraced garden with a table, chairs and a chimenea where you can enjoy an al fresco tipple or two
  • Dogs are welcome, and you are just a couple of minutes’ walk from the beach, where four-legged friends can play on the sand without restrictions at any time of year
  • You can take a short and steep climb through the village to the top of the cliffs for spectacular views out to sea

This beautiful barn conversion is in a peaceful spot in the rolling East Yorkshire countryside and comes with three bedrooms in the main building and a separate self-contained annexe for a family holiday with the best of both worlds.

The holiday home is light and airy with a galleried landing that looks out over the open-plan lounge, kitchen and dining area, which is a great space for everyone to gather for family meals.

The Corner Post House | Sleeps 10 + 3 dogs

Close to the West Yorkshire market town of Holmfirth (of Last of the Summer Wine fame) and the Peak District National Park, The Corner Post House is a large family holiday home that comes with a hot tub and sauna to help ease aching muscles after scenic walks in the countryside.

A sun room with a bar area leads to a tiered decking area, which has a variety of seating options and views across to the village church. There’s even a fire pit so you can sit out together late into the evening.

Oaklea Cottage – York | Sleeps 6

Oaklea Cottage is a characterful Grade II-listed period property that’s located in a village on the outskirts of York. Regular buses will take you into the historic city, where you’ll be spoilt for choice of things to do in York, from shopping and drinking cocktails to visiting the awe-inspiring York Minster.

Inside the property, you’ll find original brick fireplaces and dark wooden beams, while outside, there is a mature cottage garden with trees, shrubs and colourful flowers and benches so that you can sit and enjoy a morning cuppa to the sound of birdsong.

Perfect for solo or couple’s getaways with four-legged friends by your side, Blakey View Bothy is located in the heart of the North York Moors National Park with stunning scenery in all directions. It’s just a mile from Castleton, where you’ll find a couple of dog-friendly pubs and regular trains to whisk you through the Esk Valley to Whitby.

The Grade II-listed bothy is small but perfectly formed with everything you need for your getaway. Rustle up a meal in the well-equipped kitchen, enjoy the view as you sit on a leather sofa, then climb the ladder to the hand-crafted oak bed for a good night’s sleep before your next day of adventures.

This detached coastal property is close to Whitby Beach and the attractions of West Cliff, which include crazy golf, bumper boats and the Spa Pavilion. The contemporary cottage comes with a spacious open-plan living and dining space that’s warmed by a double-sided wood burner inside a feature stone and brick fireplace.

There are plenty of things that make this property family friendly, including an enclosed garden that’s ideal for children and dogs and a utility room with a washer/dryer and freezer. There is also an EV charger at the property.

This luxurious townhouse is close to the popular North York Moors market town of Helmsley, where you’ll find a 14th-century castle, a pretty walled garden and an open-air swimming pool for the warmer summer months.

This large barn conversion is located on a working farm near Ripon, where you’ll find plenty of fresh Yorkshire air and a variety of animals, including pigs, sheep, cows and alpacas. Up to five dogs are welcome to join you at this dog-friendly property, which comes with an enclosed dog paddock so they can safely run around off-lead.
