Set in the heart of an award-winning village near Richmond, this elegant Georgian residence provides a luxurious base for groups seeking quality time together in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. Wake each morning to sweeping countryside views before stepping straight out onto scenic footpaths that wind through riverside meadows and rolling hills.

Dating back to the 18th century, this beautifully restored Grade II-listed home balances timeless elegance with modern comfort. A grand entrance hall with a sweeping staircase creates a wonderful first impression. At the heart of the house is the stylish kitchen with a marble island and a generous dining table. Double doors lead into the light-filled drawing room, where French doors open out to the gardens. Both the drawing and dining rooms feature graceful marble fireplaces. When it’s time to unwind, retire to the inviting snug and settle in beside the wood burner for a cosy film night. A boot room and cloakroom add convenience. Upstairs, the master suite enjoys a super-king-size bed and a spacious en-suite with freestanding bath, double walk-in shower and separate WC. Four further bedrooms – two king size and two doubles – provide versatile accommodation, two with en-suites and two sharing a family bathroom. On the top floor, the family room has two double beds and a single, plus a bathroom with a freestanding tub and separate shower. A quiet reading nook beneath a skylight offers peaceful views over paddocks and rooftops. Outside, sip morning coffee on the terrace, enjoy relaxed lunches on the lawn, or drinks at sunset surrounded by beautiful planting. The enclosed garden is perfect for children to play safely, and ample private parking is provided.

Adjacent to the main house, the charming cottage offers extra space for guests to gather or relax separately. Inside, you'll find a fully equipped kitchen, a cosy wood burner, a double bedroom, a single bedroom, and a shower room with WC—perfect for additional privacy and comfort.

Just 2 miles away is the acclaimed Middleton Lodge, boasting a Michelin-starred restaurant, gardens, and indulgent spa experiences. Spend a day exploring the Georgian market town of Richmond (3 miles), complete with its medieval castle and riverside walks to Easby Abbey (4 miles). Further afield, discover Barnard Castle and The Bowes Museum (10 miles) or the charming village of Reeth (14 miles).

We had a wonderful stay at Gilling Lodge for my mother's birthday gathering. The house was comfortable, beautifully furnished and very well equipped for a larger party, with everything we needed for a week of cooking, socialising and relaxing. The gardens were also beautiful and immaculately maintained, and the village itself was delightful. Both tRead morehe owners and the house manager were so welcoming and always on hand if we needed anything. I would highly recommend staying here and very much hope to return. Hide
