This rural getaway for two sits on the edge of the North York Moors, in the charming village of Normanby. The historic market towns of Helmsley and Pickering are within 10 miles, and you can also enjoy day trips to the seaside resorts along the Yorkshire coastline (just over 20 miles). After a long day, soak your weary muscles in the indulgent, free-standing bath or sip a sundowner in the garden, surrounded by rolling countryside.

The former barn has been beautifully converted into a stylish holiday home, with characterful exposed beams and brickwork sitting alongside elegant furniture and plush soft furnishings. Leave your outdoor attire in the boot room, before heading through to the bright and spacious lounge/kitchen/diner with its vaulted ceiling, roaring double-sided wood burner, and underfloor heating. Whip up delicious dinners for two in the sleek kitchen area, to enjoy together at the romantic dining table. Get cosy in the welcoming lounge area with its statement sofa to watch the Smart TV or simply admire the far-reaching views through the bi-fold doors. Tucked behind a brick partition is a gorgeous king-size bedroom with a free-standing bath and bi-fold doors framing tranquil countryside views. An en-suite wet room completes the accommodation. Outside, relax in the peaceful, enclosed garden with a glass of wine or toast marshmallows around the firepit.

Spend a quiet afternoon pottering around the picturesque market town of Helmsley (10 miles). Visit its historic castle, or admire the magnificent floral displays in the town’s walled garden. Helmsley also boasts a fine array of independent shops, boutiques, cafes, and restaurants. Nearby attractions include Castle Howard, Rievaulx Abbey, and the North Yorkshire Moors Railway (all within 15 miles).

The cottage was immaculate and finished to a high standard, the soft furnishings including the towels and kitchenware were all of a good quality The welcome hamper was a lovely touch. Plenty of room for our two large dogs. Will definitely be back and have already recommended this cottage to family and friends.

Nice conversion and tastefully decorated. Well equipped with everything that could be needed, including torches to light the way to and from the pub, which served good and plentiful food, and only a 10 minute walk away. Warm welcome from the owner. Quiet location but near to many places worth visiting.
