Delight in a stay at this bijou apartment for two in the picturesque Yorkshire Dales National Park. Set on the first floor of a beautiful period building in the charming village of Askrigg, the one-bedroom bolthole offers sumptuous accommodation as well as an abundance of original character. Also providing dog-friendly accommodation, it makes great base for anyone eager to enjoy long walks to visit beauty spots such as Aysgarth Falls, 5 miles away.

Make your way into the building, which was the backdrop to scenes from the BBC’s original series of drama All Creatures Great and Small and now encompasses seven luxurious holiday homes. Make your way up to your own romantic retreat and enter to find a magnificent, open-plan lounge/bedroom/diner, where you can enjoy some quality time together in style. Pop open a bottle of fizz and find a fabulous film on the Smart TV. Head through to the kitchen to prepare delicious dinners for two with the fresh produce you have bought then dine together at the table. Amble through to the lavish bathroom to run a steaming bubble bath to soak in before you lay your head on your pillow for the night in the enticing king-size bed. There is no outside space with this gorgeous Yorkshire retreat but the picturesque, open countryside is within 200 metres of your base.

Strike out on foot to experience the natural beauty of Wensleydale. Head into Hawes, 5.5 miles away, to potter in the shops, source tasty Yorkshire produce and visit the renowned Wensleydale Creamery. You can also pick up the Pennine Way at this market town. Visit Bolton Castle, 7 miles away, which is often described as one of the country’s best preserved medieval castles. Also plan a day out to Richmond, 19 miles away, with its impressive castle.
