Unwind with your loved ones at this delightful cottage in a pretty complex of properties in the tranquil village of Embsay. Sleeping four people across three bedrooms, this is a perfect accommodation option for small families or groups of friends looking for a peaceful hideaway to call home while they discover the natural wonders of Yorkshire Dales together. During the day, head off to Embsay Reservoir to enjoy a picnic by the lake. In the evening, come home to the cottage's pretty patio and indulge in a sizzling BBQ feast.

Step inside and you'll be welcomed by a warm, open-plan living space that seamlessly blends rustic allure with modern comfort. Slip onto the sofa and make yourself at home in the traditional lounge area, which is flooded with natural light from the patio doors. When it’s time to eat, head to the farmhouse-style kitchen/diner to cook up your favourite meal and then gather everyone together to eat at the wooden dining table. Alternatively, head out to the patio area, fire-up the charcoal BBQ and dine alfresco. Afterwards, head into the garden to chill out by the firepit, or make your way back to the lounge area to stretch out on a sofa. At the end of the day, there are two thoughtfully-designed double bedrooms waiting for you upstairs that boast arched windows framing picturesque country views. One of the double bedrooms provides access to a twin attic room via a steep paddle staircase. The cottage also offers a smart, minimalist-style shower room. In the morning, start your day with an informal breakfast in the cheerful breakfast room to the rear of the cottage.

Explore the majestic ruins of the 900-year-old Bolton Abbey (3.5 miles). Choose from gentle riverside strolls or challenging climbs that offer panoramic views. Alternatively, venture off into Strid Wood (6 miles) where you'll discover a fabulous network of trails and perhaps be lucky enough to capture a glance of pied flycatchers or redstarts.

Great cottage and very well equipped and clean. Beds were amazingly comfortable. Host was fabulous and very welcoming. Very kind and allowed us 3 dogs (2 spaniels and a sausage!) Very close to everything, pub a walk down the lane, shop in the village. Skipton about a 40 min walk or 5 mins in the car. Very central for visiting different areas. OlderRead more children would have loved the 3rd bedroom but be cautious steps are very steep for younger ones. Garden is communal so another word of caution. Hide

Lovely location spoilt by the overpowering smell of the treated timber in the cottage. We had to have the windows open all day to try and alleviate this, thereby we were cold in the evenings but had no controls of the heating system. On contacting the owners with the problem, the only advice we were given was to keep the windows closed all day! A wRead moreelcome pack would have been a nice gesture. We would not return to this cottage. Hide
