The whole family will love their holiday at this Howardian Hills holiday home. A beautifully renovated barn packed with wow-factor features, it’s a super-pet-friendly place for a party of six, just 2 miles from foodie-favourite Malton and closer still to iconic Castle Howard.
One of a duo of deluxe holiday hideaways surrounded by fertile farmland, this contemporary barn conversion has character, comfort and convenience throughout. Enter through the hallway and head into an impressive open-plan living space with a vaulted ceiling, exposed structural beams and bi-folding doors that allow natural light and fresh air to flood in. To one end, the uber-cool kitchen is a sociable place for food prep, separated from the lounge area by a large rustic dining suite. Stone flooring adds character but, thanks to its underfloor heating, it will never feel chilly. Stretch out on the leather sofas in the lounge to watch TV or admire the view through floor-to-ceiling windows. Two bedrooms are also on the ground floor– one a king-size with plenty of storage, and the other a lovely twin room. The beautiful family bathroom is also on this floor, offering both a shower and a bath. Upstairs, the master king-size bedroom has a Juliet balcony alongside a stylish en-suite shower room. Step through those bi-fold doors downstairs and you’ll find a pretty gravelled courtyard and patio area. Beyond, there’s an enclosed paddock where dogs – up to four are welcome here! – can dash around off-lead.
Enjoy countryside wanders from your doorstep, or drive 4 miles to stately Castle Howard, where there are acres of grounds and gardens to explore, plus an adventure playground the children will adore. Just 2 miles in the opposite direction, Malton is a town of markets and makers, with quaint cobbled streets, historic buildings and a reputation as Yorkshire’s food capital. Pickering (10 miles) is the starting point for rides on the North York Moors Railway – well-behaved dogs are welcome, and at Grosmont, the heritage railway connects to the Esk Valley Line so you can journey onwards to Whitby. Alternatively, the Edwardian resort of Filey and lively Scarborough are both a 25-mile drive away and, for a further step back in time, historic York is 19 miles away.
