Located mid-way between the Yorkshire Dales and North Yorkshire Moors, this eco-conscious barn conversion offers a choice of sociable living spaces plus five en-suite bedrooms – two on the ground floor. With a fabulous hot tub on the patio, it’s perfect for a laid-back big-group break.
Directly opposite the pretty village green in Sinderby, this beautifully converted farm building is full of wow-factor features such as exposed beams, high-end fittings and eco-conscious heating and hot water systems. It’s one of four holiday cottages in a spacious courtyard setting; step inside and you’ll find a light and airy vibe in the open-plan kitchen/diner/living room, which is dominated by a double-height ceiling and huge central dining suite. All the essentials for effortless self-catering are within the chic kitchen area at one end of the room; at the other, there’s a casual seating area where guests can gather for pre-dinner drinks or a fresh cup of Tassimo-machine coffee. Enjoy a more intimate mood in the separate lounge – an equally impressive room with comfortable seating, a wood burner, TV/DVD player, Bluetooth-enabled Hi-Fi and a baby grand piano. When it’s time to sleep, there are two bedrooms on the ground floor, the first of them a king-size with its own Smart TV and en-suite shower room, the other a king-size with an en-suite bathroom. Upstairs, there are three further bedrooms, all of which have their own Smart TV and en-suite facilities – one with a bath and the others with showers. For supreme flexibility, zip-and-link beds mean that three of the king-size rooms can be made up as twins – please request at the time of booking. For a breath of fresh country air, simply step into the patio garden to the rear of the property, where you can fire up the BBQ and chill out in the hot tub – robes are provided. Work up an appetite with a walk around the owners’ farm; cows graze in the fields behind the cottages and you may even be able to collect fresh eggs from the resident chickens.
Sinderby is roughly equidistant from the market towns of Ripon, Masham, Bedale and Thirsk – all around 8 miles away – while slightly further afield, the spa town of Harrogate (20 miles) is well-known for its antiques and fine art, fashionable boutiques and fine restaurants. No visit would be complete without a trip to Bettys Cafe Tea Rooms, and for the ultimate indulgence, a session at the renowned Turkish Baths is highly recommended.
