To the south, you can head to the historic Rievaulx Abbey (9 miles) or the National Centre for Birds of Prey (11 miles). Also to the south is the popular market town of Helmsley (11 miles), which has some fantastic places to eat and drink and is home to the ruins of Helmsley Castle with a history dating back over 900 years.
