May - June Events
There is always so much going on in May and June. With two Bank Holidays and a half term there are festivals and events for all the family to enjoy. Festivals include the Waterways Festival in Skipton and the Festival of Music in Filey. Local artists and craft-makers invite you to see them at work in the Open Studios programme across North Yorkshire and the first regatta of the year is held at Filey. Tour de Yorkshire - 30th April - 3rd May 2020
This international cycle race highlights some of the best destinations in Yorkshire. The stages for the sixth edition taking place in 2020 will either start or finish in Barnsley, Beverley, Halifax, Huddersfield, Leeds, Leyburn, Redcar and Skipton. This is an event not to be missed!
Filey Folk Festival - 8th to 10th May 2020
This year's Filey Folk Festival will see more than 150 acts take to the streets and various other venues around the town to perform. This weekend-long festival should not be missed!
Skipton Waterway Festival - 8th to 10th May 2020
With great success in previous years, the 3 day canal boat event, Skipton Waterways Festival attracts visitors from across the country. With live music, crafts, morris dancing and the illuminated boat cruise there is plenty to do for all the family.
Whitby Fish & Ships Festival, Whitby - 16th-17th May 2020
Celebrate Whitby’s Fishing Heritage at this FREE Festival
Explore everything that’s special about the Yorkshire Coast’s magnificent maritime culture, from the building of its boats to its multi award-winning fish restaurants.
Choose from an endless choice of activities at this jaunty weekend, so much to enjoy for all the family including cookery demonstrations in the seafood kitchen and the fish market, Parkol shipyard tours, festival music and street entertainment.
Malton Food Lovers Festival - 23rd - 24th May 2020
Again this year, Malton will play host to around 160 tasty food and drink stalls as part of its annual Food Lovers Festival. There will be local produce on sale as well as there being tasting events, celebrity chef demonstrations, children's entertainment, book signings, music and much more.
Swaledale Festival, Reeth - 23rd May to 6th June 2020
This popular two week festival celebrates the best of Swaledale with a variety of music, arts and walking to be enjoyed.
Duncombe Park Country Fair, Helmsley - 25th May 2020
A great day out for all the family with displays, exhibitions and farmer's market. Come and see some of the many attractions taking place which include 'Have a go Clay Pigeon,' Stuntmania, fun dog showing and funfair rides. Dales Festival of Food and Drink, Leyburn - 13th to 14th June 2020
Supported by Welcome to Yorkshire, this annual festival takes place in Leyburn each year. Being in the heart of Wensleydale, there is no better place to come and sample some of the best authentic Yorkshire delicacies. With homemade scones, gourmet pies and local butchers selling the finest meats you may well need a drink so it's just as well that there'll be the Real Ale Festival at the bar! You really will be spoiled for choice at this event.
Grassington Festival - 12th to 27th June 2020
Founded in 1981, The Grassington Festival is a 15 day long music festival. Featuring top performances from both local artists and some who will be visiting the region, there will be a varied programme to enjoy. Incorporating visual arts, workshops and guided walks there will be plenty to keep you occupied whilst staying in Grassington.
Filey Regatta - 20th to 21st June 2020
The Filey Regatta attracts up to 150 sailing dinghies from all around the country with its races taking place over two days. During this time there is a real atmosphere within the pretty coastal town and is something which sailing enthusiasts would be sure to enjoy.
Cock o'the North Festival, Oliver's Mount Road Racing, Scarborough - 20th-21st June 2020
Held over two days, this action packed motor festival includes racing between motorbikes to sidecars, cars to single seaters and everything in between.
North Yorkshire County Show, The Camp Hill Estate, Bedale - 21st June 2020
The North Yorkshire County Show will be hosting many activities as always including Main Ring attractions, traction engines and classic cars, local produce, cattle, livestock and children's entertainment besides much more.
Malton Show, Scampston Park, Malton - 28th June 2020
This fantastic Yorkshire agricultural show features lots of events and activities to keep the whole family entertained. There's sheep dog shows, livestock judging, dog shows, children's races, miniature railway, rides, vintage tractors and more.
