May - June Events
There is always so much going on in May and June. With two Bank Holidays and a half term there are festivals and events for all the family to enjoy. Festivals include the Waterways Festival in Skipton and the Festival of Music in Filey. Local artists and craft-makers invite you to see them at work in the Open Studios programme across North Yorkshire and the first regatta of the year is held at Filey. For details of events see below…
Festival of Speed Bike Hill Climb, Oliver's Mount Road Racing, Scarborough - 2nd May 2017
Held over two days, this action packed motor festival includes racing between motorbikes to sidecars, cars to single seaters and everything in between.
The Beach Boys - Scarborough Open Air Theatre - 24th May 2017
Catch the fantastic Beach Boys as they bring some fun, fun, fun to the Scarborough Open Air Theatre this May!
P1 Grand Prix of The Sea, Scarborough - Dates TBC
Opening round of the P1 Superstock and P1 Aquax National Championships will take place in Scarborough this year. If in the area, why not come along and view some of these spectacular powerboats in action!
Skipton Waterway Festival - May 2017 (TBC)
With great success in previous years, the Skipton Waterways Festival attracts visitors from across the country. With live music, crafts, morris dancing and the illuminated boat cruise there is plenty to do for all the family. With dates yet to be confirmed for 2017, watch this space for more info!
Malton Food Lovers Festival - 27th & 28th May 2017
Again this year, Malton will play host to around 160 tasty food and drink stalls as part of its annual Food Lovers Festival. There will be local produce on sale as well as there being tasting events, celebrity chef demonstrations, children's entertainment, book signings, music and much more.
Swaledale Festival, Reeth - 27th May to 10th June 2017
This popular two week festival celebrates the best of Swaledale with a variety of music, arts and walking to be enjoyed.
Duncombe Park Country Fair, Helmsley - 29th May 2017
A great day out for all the family with displays, exhibitions and farmer's market. Come and see some of the many attractions taking place which include 'Have a go Clay Pigeon,' bucking bronco, fun dog showing and new for this year, mini Grand National Races. Overground, Underground Festival, Ingleton - Dates TBC
With walks and talks, cave explorations and quirky demonstrations, the Overground, Underground Festival is perfect for those looking for outdoor adventure!
Dales Festival of Food and Drink, Leyburn - 17th to 18th June 2017
Supported by Welcome to Yorkshire, this annual festival takes place in Leyburn each year. Being in the heart of Wensleydale, there is no better place to come and sample some of the best authentic Yorkshire delicacies. With homemade scones, gourmet pies and local butchers selling the finest meats you may well need a drink so it's just as well that there'll be the Real Ale Festival at the bar! You really will be spoiled for choice at this event.
North Yorkshire County Show: Otterington Hall, (near Northallerton) - 18th June 2017
In its 38th year, the North Yorkshire County Show will be hosting many activities as always including Main Ring attractions, traction engines and classic cars, local produce, cattle, livestock and children's entertainment besides much more. North Yorkshire Open Studios - 3rd to 4th June and 10th to 11th June 2017
Over certain days in June, artists across North Yorkshire open up their studios to display and sell their crafts to visitors. With venues on the North Yorkshire Moors as well as the Yorkshire Coast and into the Dales you will be able to see all kinds of creations ranging from glass work and painting to sculpture and ceramics. These original works are definitely worth seeing.
Grassington Festival - 16th June to 1st July 2017
Founded in 1981, The Grassington Festival is a 15 day long music festival. Featuring top performances from both local artists and some who will be visiting the region, there will be a varied programme to enjoy. Incorporating visual arts, workshops and guided walks there will be plenty to keep you occupied whilst staying in Grassington.
Alfie Boe & Michael Ball - Scarborough Open Air Theatre - 27th June 2017

Cliff Richard - Scarborough Open Air Theatre - 29th June 2017
