March - April Events

Things really “spring” (forgive the pun) into action at this time of year. The festival season gets going and many of the major attractions hold Easter events to keep everyone entertained. See a selection of these events below…

Wensleydale Tournament of Song

March 2022 (2 weeks)

A festival for music, singing, poetry and prose. Staged at Leyburn Methodist Church Hall and The Garden Rooms at Tennants. Programmes are available from Towlers Newsagents. The scope and quality of the performances provide a two-week extravaganza of entertainment.

BRSA National Scooter Rally Weekend

5-17 April 2022

The first of the year. Friday and Saturday evening entertainment at Whitby Pavilion from 8pm. Custom show and parts fair at the pavilion Saturday day time from 10am-4pm.

Sci-Fi Scarborough

9-10 April 2022

Celebrating the best in new fiction, humour, politics and autobiographies, this event returns with guests, exhibitors, artists, authors and traders, at the Spa Complex. 

Wensleydale Wander

9 April 2022

Organised by the Rotary Club of Wensleydale, participants choose one of two walks which meander through Leyburn and Lower Wensleydale. This is a friendly and sociable walk in aid of charities. There are liquid refreshments available at various checkpoints in both walks, while warm food is provided at the halfway point on the longer walk. All walkers receive a hot two course meal at the finish in Wensleydale School. Routes are well sign-posted and marshalled, so no one is likely to get lost!

Harrogate Flower Shows

21-24 April 2022

Harrogate Spring Flower Show is the first big event in the gardening calendar, welcoming the new growing season with a spectacular celebration of the very best in horticulture. There is a packed programme of talks and demonstrations each day of the show. There will be lively garden chat and great growing advice, floral art demonstrations, and a menu of delicious dishes in the Plot to Pot Cookery Theatre.

Whitby Goth Weekend

22-24 April 2022

This infamous event takes place in Whitby twice per year. For those who enjoy the alternative music scene and flamboyant Gothic costumes, be sure to attend this festival. Whether it's to take part or just enjoy the quirky atmosphere which takes hold of the town throughout the week, it is always a success. With accommodation always booking well in advance you will not want to miss out!
