March - April Events
Things really “spring” (forgive the pun) into action at this time of year. The festival season gets going and many of the major attractions hold Easter events to keep everyone entertained. See a selection of these events below…
Wensleydale Tournament of Song, Leyburn - 20th March to 31st March 2017
This is a local festival celebrating speech and music. With recitals being judged by an adjudicator, it is an opportunity to take to the stage in front of an audience. Location: Methodist Church School Rooms, Leyburn and Tennants Auction House.
York Literature Festival - 16th to 30th March 2017
A festival promoting the arts in York emphasizing on poetry, spoken word and literature. With a varied programme of events including music, cinema, theatre and comedy this event is not to be missed! The events will be hosted across many locations in York including the York Grand Opera House and Waterstones bookshop.
Egg-cellent Easter Trail Dales Countryside Museum - 8th April 2017
Enjoy this easter egg-stravaganza at the Dales Countryside Museum. With some brilliant easter crafts to be enjoyed, as well as word trails around the museum, this event is great for getting those bobtails moving!
The Great Studfold Easter egg hunt - 8th April to 23rd April 2017
The Great Studfold Easter egg hunt returns for 2017, bring the whole family along and hunt for the brightly coloured eggs, enjoy easter crafts such as making easter cards and badges. Bring a picnic!

Sci-Fi Scarborough - 8th to 9th April 2017
Returning for its fourth year, Sci-Fi Scarborough is one convention not to be missed, with confirmed guests such as Clem So, Richard Oldfield and Andrew-Lee Potts. The event also includes live music, world-renowned comic book artists and trading.
Scarborough Book Festival - 26th April to 1st May 2017
Celebrating the best in new fiction, humour, politics and autobiographies, Books on the Beach includes guests such as Ann Cleaves and Four Mums in a Boat.
Skipton Beer Festival - 20th to 22nd April 2017
Over 600 Prize winning ales, cider and perry are available to try at the Skipton Beer Festival as well as hot and cold food to enjoy. Skipton Beer Festival is not to be missed!
Spring Flower Show, Harrogate - 20th to 23rd April 2017
Being one of the UK's biggest horticultural shows, visit the Spring Flower Show in Harrogate to enjoy the vast array of colours on display. Location: Great Yorkshire Showground, Harrogate, North Yorkshire, HG2 8NZ.
Whitby Goth Weekend - 21st to 23rd April 2017
This infamous event takes place in Whitby twice per year. For those who enjoy the alternative music scene and flamboyant Gothic costumes, be sure to attend this festival. Whether it's to take part or just enjoy the quirky atmosphere which takes hold of the town throughout the week, it is always a success. With accommodation always booking well in advance you will not want to miss out!
70s Big Weekend - 28th to 29th April 2017
Bringing some of the best 70s tribute artists to Whitby, this weekender is sure to amaze with acts such as Too Rex, bc Sweet, Slade UK and Bees Gees Staying Alive.
Tour de Yorkshire - 28th April to 30th April 2017
This international cycle race highlights some of the best destinations in Yorkshire. Stage one begins in Bridlington, finishing in Scarborough. Stage two starts in Tadcaster, traveling towards Harrogate. Stage three runs from Bradford to Sheffield. This is an event not to be missed!
Filey Folk Festival - 28th April to 1st May 2017
This year's Filey Folk Festival will see more than 150 acts take to the streets and various other venues around the town to perform. This weekend-long festival should not be missed!
