July - August Events
Yorkshire’s agricultural shows offer entertainment for all the family and range from the three day event of The Great Yorkshire Show to the much smaller, and slightly odd, Egton Gooseberry Show. There’s also plenty of maritime events on the coast including Whitby Regatta and the Seafest Festival at Scarborough. Many of the small villages have Scarecrow Festivals at this time of year – stroll round and pick your favourite. A selection of summer events is shown below…

Whitby Soul Weekender - 3rd - 4th July 2020
The original Yorkshire Soul Weekender in the beautiful town of Whitby. The Whitby Soul Weekender is an event which should always feature on any music lover's calendar! Featuring some great DJ sets including the best of Northern Soul, Motown and Modern Soul. Get your tickets from Whitby Pavillion.

The Great Yorkshire Show, Harrogate - 14th to 16th July 2020
Nothing says more about Yorkshire than The Great Yorkshire Show! This iconic festival, reputed as England's Premier Agricultural Event, is vast and attracts more than 130,000 visitors over three days. If you really wish to splash out, buy tickets to the Hospitality suite and enjoy a Yorkshire buffet lunch amongst other great benefits. Whitby Steampunk Weekend, Whitby Pavilion - 24th - 26th July 2020
Whitby Steampunk Weekend takes place in February and July at Whitby Pavillion and includes the finest alternative retail emporium selling accessories, apparel and accoutrements, presentations and workshops, musical interludes, a sensational costume exhibition and other splendid stuff too.

Wensleydale Railway 1940's Weekend - 25th - 26th July 2020
Travel back to 1940s Leyburn as the Wensleydale Railway 1940's Weekend returns. See visitors in period dress and a range of vintage vehicles on display at this fabulous annual event.

Seafest Maritime Festival, Scarborough - 17th to 19th July 2020
We are sure to expect another fantastic 3 day event on the Yorkshire coast taking place in Scarborough. The Seafest Maritime Festival's programme usually includes Maritime exhibitions as well as other such delights including seafood cooking demonstrations, craft stalls, live music, children's entertainments and much more.

The Yorkshire Dales Festival of Food & Drink, Funkirk Farm Skipton - 18th - 19th July 2020
The Yorkshire Dales Festival of Food & Drink showcases the finest food and drink fresh from the Yorkshire Dales. With over 270 traders offering the best regional produce, along with celebrity chef demonstrations from the likes of Ainsley Harriott and James Martin, plus more live cookery demonstrations on the Yorkshire AA Rosette and Local Chef Cookery Stages. There's also plenty to keep the kids entertained, tasting sessions and some music tribute acts. This Skipton festival is foodie heaven!

The James Herriot Trail, Wensleydale - 26th July 2020
In aid of Rotary charities, the James Herriot Trail is an annual 14k run over the beautiful moorland tracks and paths surrounding Castle Bolton.

Egton Gooseberry Show - 4th August 2020
Being one of the more obscure events taking place on the North York Moors, the annual Gooseberry Show at Egton is the oldest remaining show of its kind in the country. Starting at 2pm, there will be music to enjoy throughout the afternoon before the prize giving starts at 6.30pm.

Thornton-le-Dale Show - 5th August 2020
Falconry shows, fancy dress on horseback, show jumping, sheep dogs and geese...Thornton le Dale show is everything you would typically expect from a traditional village show. Situated on the North York Moors, this quaint village is definitely worth a visit. With its pretty stream trickling through the centre you can feed the ducks and then take a walk down by the infamous thatched cottage.

Whitby Regatta - 15th to 17th August 2020
From rowing races to funfair rides and a grand firework display, Whitby Regatta always packs a lot into just three days! On the West Cliff you will find vintage cars and Punch & Judy throughout the weekend then on Monday, Whitby's Pier Road will be closed throughout the day as market stalls and rides take over the iconic West pier. Catch a glimpse of demonstrations by the RAF Sea King Helicopter Search and Rescue team and if you're really lucky, you may see The Red Arrows who often frequent the weekend event with one of their breathtaking aerobatic displays!

Kettlewell Scarecrow Festival - 8th - 16th August 2020
The Kettlewell Scarecrow Festival is the one of the biggest and best of its kind in the UK. Set in this idyllic Wharfedale village, it's a great way to spend a day with friends or family, trail sheets cost just £1 and there's always delicious homemade refreshments available from the village hall. Alternatively, why not venture out into the beautiful countryside here with a picnic after a day of rubbing shoulders with the various celebrities dotted around the village (in straw form, of course!).

Whitby Folk Week - 22nd to 28th August 2020
Each and every August, the town of Whitby is taken over by swarms of people who come and stay to enjoy the annual Whitby Folk Festival. From Morris dancing in the streets to concerts and workshops at the Spa complex, this is arguably one of Whitby's busiest events. If you're walking through town and can hear bells jingling...you know it's Folk Week!

Egton Show - 26th August 2020
Being one of the largest village shows in the country, this one is not to be missed! This year's show will feature the usual judging classes which include horse, cattle, fur, feather and many more, plus children's entertainment, music, stalls and a beer tent.
