The Wishing Well is a charming bijou property located a short walk from the historic Norman Castle and the marketplace in the Georgian Town of Richmond in North Yorkshire. The cottage gets its name from the Wishing well located just under the cooker in the kitchen, it is now sealed and is an amazing feature within this romantic retreat for two or for those guests who are travelling solo.  Richmond’s restaurants, tea rooms, quirky shops and pubs are all within walking distance as is the River Swale with its waterfalls and riverside walks.  This fabulous cottage has been renovated using high quality fabrics and materials whilst retaining some of the original features, there is a wood burning stove in the comfortable lounge which is ideal for cosying up to in the cooler months.  At the rear is a decked enclosed balcony with stunning views of the surrounding woodland, an ideal place to sit and watch the local wildlife, there is also a small enclosed courtyard where you can hide away and enjoy the peace and quiet.  The property is ideal for exploring Swaledale and Wensleydale and why not try and catch a show at the famous Georgian Theatre, the only one of its kind in the country!

Thank you so much for an amazing week in Richmond. It is our first time in the Yorkshire Dales and we will defiantly be back. The Wishing Well cottage was the perfect base for our holiday. We enjoyed many beautiful breakfasts on the terrace and cooking with the fantastic local produce. The cottage was so well equipped and has clearly been lovingly refurbished. The fresh flowers and hamper of goodies was a lovely touch. After months of Lockdown and not being able to go away The Wishing Well cottage delivered a truly memorable break. We spent so much time outside exploring the stunning countryside and feel thoroughly refreshed. Thank you again.

We've had a fantastic stay in Richmond! The cottage is beautifully renovated to a fantastic standard. It's warm and cosy and has a fantastic area at the back to sit outside and enjoy the sun. We were lucky enough to go on some scenic walks around the local area and enjoyed great food in some of the restaurants. Sunday lunch at the George and Dragon in Hurdswell is highly recommend. We can't wait to visit again soon!

What a wonderful 6 days staying in Richmond. The Wishing Well has been 5 star accommodation it's in a beautiful area and the outside decking was an absolute bonus, having breakfast outside listening to the birds and the river was very relaxing in the morning a very good start to the day, especially when the sun was shining. On arrival to walk into the cottage and have fresh flowers in the lounge and the bedroom was a beautiful touch and our welcome basket was amazing after our long journey the chocolate biscuits were top notch :) It's been a great base to explore everything the Dales has to offer, and we look forward to returning in the future.

Having not stayed in Richmond before we weren't sure what to expect but we were absolutely thrilled with this amazing property! The decor and finish are of such high standard, and once we had everything we could possibly need for a perfect weekend away. The town of Richmond itself is beautiful, particulary down by the river and waterfall and would recommend a visit to the Station to eeveryone. Area Information

Richmond is a leafy, vibrant market town boasting an impressive castle, a vast cobbled market place and an elegant Georgian district. It was formed by the Normans in 1071 and the town grew up around the castle which still dominates the skyline. It is said that the walls of the former imprisonment of King William are 11 feet thick and the exhibition centre within the grounds offers an impressive background into the history of this famous landmark.

The cobbled market square is an exciting and vibrant place with plenty of quirky shops, art galleries and a good choice of pubs, restaurants and bars. There is a wonderful georgian theatre hosting shows to suit all tastes in the town. Every Saturday there is a traditional outdoor market, joined by a popular farmers market once a month. The town is also the gateway to wonderful and unspoilt countryside, making it an ideal base for cycling, walking and other outdoor pursuits. The historic towns of York and Harrogate are also within easy reach.
