There’s lots to keep you entertained on a self-catering break in the small Yorkshire village of Oakworth. The village is close to the Yorkshire Dales and the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the Forest of Bowland so you’ll never be far from great walking routes and stunning views. The village holds an annual picnic in the park with face painting, ice cream, a raffle and live music throughout the day. There are two great pubs to choose from if you want to relax at the end of a busy day exploring and for meals out, take a trip up to Keighley, just 3 miles away, for a variety of restaurants and bars.
The village has a regular bus service running from Keighley to Oakworth, with stops at surrounding villages such as Haworth. Haworth, home of the Brontë sisters, makes a great day out for those with an interest in Yorkshire’s literary heritage with its excellent Brontë Parsonage Museum and a regular Brontë Festival of Women’s Writing. Other great activities include Cliffe Castle Park and Museum, 3 miles away in Keighley, Hardcastle Craggs, 6 miles away in Hebden Bridge, and Shibden Hall, 8 miles away in Halifax.
