Set in the attractive village of Middlesmoor at the head of Upper Nidderdale and just 8 miles from Pateley Bridge, Wellgate is a very well maintained cottage ideal for couples, having two double bedrooms, one of which is en-suite to one of two luxurious shower rooms. The owners have taken great care in providing all you need for a comfortable holiday and with its beamed ceilings and multi-fuel stove it's a cosy home to return to after a day out exploring this fascinating part of the Dales.
This is a fantastic area for walkers and cyclists of every calibre, having direct access to the Nidderdale way, whilst the scenic Gouthwaite Reservoir, a local conservation area only 4 miles away, is a haven for nature lovers and birdwatchers.

There are many places of interest to visit around here too, for the more energetic How Stean Gorge, Brimham Rocks and Stump Cross Caverns are all well worth a visit as well as a great choice of abbeys, castles and museums for those of you interested in history. For shopping, the spa town of Harrogate is just 18 miles away where you'll find an excellent array of high street stores as well as boutique shops and York with its magnificent Minster is also within easy reach for a good day trip. Oh, and by the way, the hotel in the village serves very good food, you're on holiday so why not have a break away from cooking and treat yourselves to some traditional Yorkshire fayre and we hear that the Sunday lunches are a BIG favourite! The village of Lofthouse has a shop and pub, with Pateley Bridge (nine miles) offering more variety. It is close to the moorland reservoirs of Scar House and Angram overlooking Coverdale, beautiful walking country.
