Gallowa's Cottage is set in the heart of the popular horse racing town of Middleham in the Yorkshire Dales and is ideal for walkers and cyclists looking to explore this beautiful area. The lavishly furnished cottage has a delightful secluded courtyard garden, which is set on two tiers, also boasts a lovely patio for al fresco dining and a recently constructed summerhouse where you can soak up the sunshine on your break.
The traditional country kitchen features a large range cooker and is equipped with all that you’ll need for family dining. The cosy and comfortable lounge benefits from a beamed ceiling, window seats and an open fire which you can curl up next to and enjoy a glass of wine with some delicious cheese from the nearby Wensleydale Creamery. There is also plenty within the cottage to keep you entertained each evening, with a flat screen TV, DVD player and WiFi included.
The Garden Room is a large separate dining room complete with further comfortable seating and French windows overlooking the rear patio garden. Upstairs the bedrooms have been luxuriously furnished and most feature window seats where you can sit and watch the horses from the stables pass by on their way to the gallops.
This is an ideal property for families or groups of friends looking to holiday together, with pubs, restaurants and shops all within walking distance and the popular market town of Leyburn is only 2 miles away.
"According to Hannah Hauxwell, the renowned hermit of the Pennine dale (who's book you will find on the shelves) a ''gallowa'' is a 15 hand young unbroken stallion, a name we felt rather appropriate to this famous horse training town." Hannah Hauxwell ''daughter of the Dales' 1926-2018.

A lovely property.
We loved staying here.
What a fantastic week we have had at Gallowa's Cottage. We love Middleham, it's just the perfect place with everything you need, we've not been far in the car because we haven't needed to, everything you need is on the doorstep. This beautiful little cottage is so full of character and wonderfully cosy. We loved the nooks and crannies. It was a real treat to hear the clip clop of the horses as we had a cuppa in bed. The cottage is beautiful and so well furnished with lots of lovely touches, it's so nice to eat off decent crockery with decent cutlery and there was every kitchen utensil you could need. The beds have been so comfy we haven;'t wanted to get up! Thanks for letting us stay in this very special place and helping us create some family moments together. Gallowa's was just the perfect setting for it all. We loved it and will definitely be back for another dose very soon
What a wonderful time we have had. The cottage is beautiful and the attention to detail second to none. Every possible item in the cottage has been thoughtfully provided. We enjoyed it so much - just like home for home (or even better!). What a fabulous property it is.
What a fabulous cottage. We really enjoyed spending Christmas here with our family. The welcome hamper so kind and we loved the cake especially! You decorated the house with such care and we really appreciate the decorations and tree. Your cottage has everything we wanted and needed. You have made our third Christmas in England a memory to be cherished. From all of us, thank you so much!
Good morning, Jane and Jeremy! I’d like to thank you for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home - it’s a real home from home. I’m sure we’ll have a wonderful week staying here whilst enjoying the plethora of places to visit! It’s a jewel of a place and I’m so glad we found it. We’ll take very good care of what has clearly been created with lots of love. Teresa (Steve McPhee’s partner)
