Description

Surrounded by stunning scenery and located in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park is Littlebeck, an exceptionally spacious and well equipped detached stone built property sleeping 10 people in 5 bedrooms, plus 2 on the large sofa bed in the family room (if required). This impressive house (formerly two cottages and a barn) has many contemporary facilities whilst retaining bags of character and charm with part exposed stone walls, window seats with views of the dale and fells and exposed wooden columns. Situated in the centre of the delightful village of Kettlewell in Upper-Wharfedale, it enjoys a quiet and idyllic position by the village maypole alongside alongside Kettlewell Beck, home to brown trout and native crayfish, as it flows from Great Whernside to the Wharfe.

The hand crafted Kitchen incorporates a range of Bosch appliances including an electric oven and hob, a two oven AGA and hob with exposed wooden lintel and twin Belfast sinks. To the rear of the property is an extensive Terrace overlooking the beck with plentiful seating and barbecue for al fresco dining. Littlebeck benefits from a cosy Family Room with a Breakfast Room, as well as a separate Dining Room, and a main Sitting Room with ample seating for all and a wood burning stove. This room is an ideal retreat for reading or relaxing on the luxurious sofas after a day exploring the local area. Littlebeck has two sets of stairs at opposite ends of the house which lead to two separate bedroom areas.

The main stairs lead to a spacious Landing with additional seating area for quiet relaxation and three of the bedrooms with the benefit of their own ensuite shower rooms, complete with rainfall shower heads. The second staircase leads to the Master Bedroom and fifth Bedroom sharing the House Bathroom.

This is a fantastic holiday home offering guests a high level of luxury (including oversized duvets to single and double beds) in a beautiful area and the welcome pack will ensure that your holiday gets off to a great start. It is located within 100 yards of one of the three village pubs, with the other two, the village store, village garage and an excellent childrens' playground all within 400 yards. With two main sitting rooms, two dining areas plus the terrace it makes an ideal place for families or groups of friends looking to holiday together. Grassington and the popular market towns of Skipton, Leyburn and Hawes are short drives away through spectacular countryside, and of course many walks right from its front door.

On the second staircase/landing the gate may be positioned either at the top or bottom of the stairs. The Main Landing safety gate protects the area including Bedrooms 2 and 3 (where its fixings are positioned). Bedroom 1 exits direct on to the landing and thence stairs. Of the 3 Bedrooms available from the main landing we therefore recommend that guests maximising safety for babies or toddlers select Bedroom 2 (on space and safety grounds) or Bedroom 3 (equal on safety but less spacious) rather than Bedroom 1.

Area Information

Kettlewell
With it's limestone terraces, the little village of Kettlewell is full of charm and is the ideal base for touring the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The village is popular with walkers, with some of the best walks in the Dales to be found in the area, from gentle riverside strolls to exploring quiet country lanes. The village is known for its farming of Swaledale Sheep as well as having provided the backdrop for the village of Knapely in the popular film, Calendar Girls. The hills surrounding Kettlewell are dotted with old mine shafts, with much of the village's housing created as homes for miners. By the 19th century, Kettlewells mines had closed with tourism now being the village's main industry. There are two pubs in the village (both serving good food), two tea rooms (one of which also doubles as a bistro in the evenings!), a village shop and a post office. A bus route connects you to the nearby towns and villages of Skipton, Grassington and Buckden. A scarecrow festival is held in the village every August.
