Welcome to Paradise End.  We aim to make your stay here as enjoyable as possible. This guide will help you decide if Paradise End is suitable for your family’s requirements. 

Quick Glance at Paradise End

  • A semi-detached cottage built in 1933. Renovated and extension added in 2005.
  • Easy open plan style to the ground floor – kitchen/dining and sitting area all on one level.
  • Sleeps up to 8 guests (plus 2 travel cots) in 4 bedrooms.
  • Ground floor double bedroom and separate shower room.
  • 3 further bedrooms upstairs: twin room, double room and super-king or twin room.
  • Upstairs bathroom with shower over bath.
  • Terrace with outdoor seating and BBQ.
  • We welcome many families to Paradise End. But, if you need a flat and secure garden for young children to play in, then is not the cottage for you. The terrace has low walls with steps down to shared grounds, woods and stream which can be fast flowing. There are several drops and changes in level.  Young children will always need supervision.

Getting here

Paradise End is one of our 3 holiday cottages in the hamlet of Hole Bottom, a quarter mile out of the village of Hebden on a single-track tarmac road.  Your satnav for BD23 5DL will bring you to Hole Bottom.  However, please remember that you may lose Wi-Fi or phone signal as you travel through the Yorkshire Dales.  You never need to leave a tarmac road and you must come via the crossroads in the village of Hebden (on B6265) to reach our cottages.


  • Our cottages share a private carpark. There is plenty of space for 3 cars for Paradise End Cottage.
  • The distance from the carpark to Paradise End’s front door is 18m.
  • The carpark surface is rough gravel chippings and can be uneven in places.
  • The carpark is lit by a motion sensor floodlight.

  • From the carpark to the track below the cottages is level, but rough gravel under foot in the carpark. The track outside the cottages is tarmac with a grass verge.
  • There is one step of 25cm from the track up to the path outside the cottage.

 Main Entrance

  • From outside path there is one step of 15cm to the front door.
  • The door is 80cm wide and 1m 96cm high.
  • The keyhole is on the left of door and is 1m 10cm from the ground.
  • The wall light by the front door is motion sensor activated from dusk to dawn.


  • Flooring is oak engineered board. Door mats have anti slip backing.
  • Hallway is 1m 54cm wide and has space for bench to sit down to remove shoes.
  • Hallway then narrows to 98cm wide to reach shower room and rest of ground floor.

Downstairs bedroom

  • Room size is 2m 90cm x 3m 65cm
  • Bedroom door is 74cm wide by 1m 98 high.
  • The flooring is oak engineered boards.
  • The bed is a 5ft King sized double bed. Space for travel cot in this room.
  • There is an open wardrobe – with shelves, hanging and plenty of storage space.
  • Access space to left of bed is 70cm, to right of bed is 62cm and at end of bed is 1m 50 cm.
  • The bedroom has 2 opening windows with child safety locks.

Downstairs shower room

  • Room size 1m 40cm 2m 45cm.
  • Doorway is 66cm wide and 1m 98cm high.
  • Flooring is non-slip slate tiles.
  • Shower with small step up to shower tray of 20cm. There are no handles or grab rails.
  • Basin is 80cm high. WC has not been adapted.


  • Open plan kitchen area 2m 65cm x 3m 60cm
  • Flooring is oak engineered boards.
  • Double oven – top oven 1m 30cm, and main bottom oven 1m from the floor.
  • Microwave is 1m 65cm from the floor.
  • Induction hob at counter-top height of 93cm
  • Fridge/freezer. Freezer height up to 82cm and fridge height up to 1m 80cm from the floor
  • All crockery and utensils in under counter units.
  • Small wooden table and 4 stools – space to move out of kitchen area.

  • Oak engineered floor. No doorways between kitchen and dining area.
  • Wooden table and 8 chairs.
  • French doors open onto terrace. Door opens 1m 60cm wide.  Step down to terrace is 20 cm.

Sitting area

  • Oak engineered boards. No doorways
  • Large sofa and 2 armchairs (47cm high), footstool, coffee table and 2 side tables.
  • Good space to move between furniture. Furniture is moveable with care.
  • Windows 47cm from floor. Fitted with child safety locks and keys.


  • Snug 3m 66cm x 3m 39cm
  • Open plan – large opening into snug 1m 65cm wide,
  • Small change in level of 3cm from sitting area into snug.
  • Large corner sofa and coffee table.
  • Oak floorboards with rug with anti-slip mat underneath.
  • Good space to move between furniture. Corner sofa cannot be moved.

Stairs to first floor

  • Stairs and all bedrooms upstairs are carpeted.
  • There are 2 steps up to first corner and then handrail on left hand side as you go up the stairs.
  • The staircase is 85cm wide.
  • The upstairs landing has 1 step of 22cm.

Double bedroom

  • Room size 3m 60cm x 2m 60cm
  • Small double room with metal 5ft king sized bed.
  • Door opening is 71cm wide by 1m 98cm high.
  • Bed side table and chest of drawers – there is no wardrobe in this room.
  • Access space on left of bed is 90cm, on right of bed is 1m 15cm and at foot of bed is 40cm.
  • Opening window 80cm from the floor. Child safety locks fitted.

Main bedroom

  • Room size 3m 66cm x 3m 61cm
  • Double room with super-king sized 6ft double divan bed or two single beds.
  • Door opening is 71cm wide and 1m 98cm high.
  • Access space to left of bed is 80cm, to right of bed is 92cm and from foot of bed is 60cm.
  • Two opening windows 60cm from the floor. Child safety locks fitted.

Twin Room

  • Room size 3m 60cm x 3m 5cm
  • Twin room with two full sized 3ft wide wooden twin beds.
  • Door opening is 71cm wide and 1m 98cm high.
  • Access space between beds is 55cm. Access space to left of beds is 45cm.  Access to right of beds is 0 cm (bed next to wall). Space from foot of beds is 1m 57cm.
  • There is space for a travel cot in this room.
  • Two opening windows 80cm from the floor. Child safety locks fitted.


  • Room size 3m 40cm x 1m 50cm
  • Bathroom door is 67cm wide and 1m 98cm.
  • Flooring is non-slip vinyl.
  • Bath has grab handles and has overhead shower.
  • Basin is 80cm high.
  • The WC has not been adapted.
  • Child step stools provided. Baby bath available.


  • The terrace is on one level from the cottage front door and round the end of cottage to the back terrace with table and chairs.
  • The terrace is made from stone flags.
  • The part of the terrace that overlooks the gardens has a low stone wall of 55cm high. Children must not climb on this wall as there is a drop over 1m to the grass below.
  • There are steep access steps to the sloping grassed area and then down to the grounds next to the stream.
  • Younger children must be always supervised. The stream can be deep and fast flowing.  There are steep slopes, woodland, rocks, and sharp changes in level in this wild area. 


Paradise End can be found tucked away in a tranquil position hidden in the valley just north of the village of Hebden, near Grassington, it is a perfect place for a gathering and a wonderful spot from which to explore this truly beautiful part of the Yorkshire Dales. Paradise End was rebuilt and extended in 2005 with plenty of space it gives an open plan easy to live in feel. The cottage looks out over Paradise Beck and has outstanding views and easy access to the grounds and beyond with great walks and cycling straight from the door what is not to love about the place. With Four bedrooms this property will sleep 8 people with space for 2 cots. It is a cottage which is furnished to a high standard in an idyllic location, perfect for walking and relaxation. Paradise End is one of three beautiful cottages located together which can be rented individually or combined for up to 17 people, perfect for a family get together.

Entrance hallway: 
Under stairs storage with wall hanging space and a bench to sit and take off your walking attire.
Bedroom 1: A lovely light and airy room with a king size bed, bedside tables and lights, a beautiful dressing table and mirror and large built-in wardrobes giving plenty of space for all your holiday clothes.
Shower Room: With walk in shower cubicle, toilet and washbasin.
Kitchen: A large open plan beautifully fitted kitchen and diner with quartz worktop, double electric oven, induction hob, large American fridge/freezer, kettle, dishwasher, toaster, microwave and cafetieres to cater for your morning coffees. This room really feels like the heart of the home and a dining area with a wooden dining table to accommodate eight guests.
Lounge and Snug: Open plan rooms with large windows and French doors looking out over Paradise Beck and the valley beyond. Snuggle into one of the large sofas whilst watching your favourite TV programme in the cosy snug area or sit back by the window get lost in your thoughts whilst enjoying the picturesque views.

Bedroom 2: A comfortably furnished room with a metal framed king size bed, bedside drawers and matching white chest of drawers, gives you peaceful feel. Views overlooking Hebden Beck and the hillside.
Bathroom:  Spacious bathroom with bath and overhead shower and privacy glass. Wash basin, toilet, mirror with shaving point and plenty of shelves for storage make this bathroom an ideal place to relax after a day out walking.
Bedroom 3: A large room with a super king zip and link bed which can be made into a twin, with a walk-in wardrobe, bedside drawers, and lights, sit by the window in the large comfy armchair and watch the world outside.
Bedroom 4: Lovely Twin-bedded light room with bedside table and light, pine chest of drawers and walk-in wardrobes.
Pets: Not accepted.
Parking: Private off-road parking.
Garden: A real feature of this property is the amazing grounds with superb views from dining room over Hebden beck and outside terrace to sit and listen to the sounds of nature.
Heating:  The cottage is heated throughout with oil central heating.

Area Information


The small and quaint village of Hebden is tucked away in a quiet area of Lower Wharfedale which is designated as a conservation area by the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The area is home to many varieties of birds and animals as well the perfect place to walk and cycle. Originally a lead mining area spoilt with plenty of walks which take you through remnants of the past industry on the surrounding hills, it is steeped in history and natural outstanding beauty. In the village you will find a tearoom which used to be the local school, post office and Methodist church. Further down Hebden lies Grimwith Reservoir which is a popular place for walkers, bird enthusiasts and home to a sailing club. If you travel two miles out of Hebden you will reach Grassington, a beautiful cobbled market square with shops offering local foods, speciality gifts and arts and crafts, along with friendly cafés and restaurants all set against a backdrop of the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. A few miles in the opposite direction along the B6265 you will come to Stump Cross Caverns, show casing some of the best caves in the UK.
