Area Information
Bedale
The Yorkshire Dales market town of Bedale is a charming place to enjoy a self-catering break. The town has an excellent selection of independent shops and is especially great for food shops selling fresh, local produce. The town holds a market day every Tuesday where you can meet local traders selling produce and plants and there is also a car boot sale in the town every Saturday. The town is full of historic buildings such as an 18th century leeches store and there is a wonderful 14th century market cross. There's plenty to keep you entertained in the town, from a local petting zoo, Big Sheep Little Cow, that children will love, the Bedale museum where you can find out more about the history of the area, as well as the beautiful Thorp Perrow Arboretum. For those looking to get outdoors, why not pay a visit to the Bedale Golf Club or Aerial Extreme Bedale? There are also many stunning trails in the area for walking, or if you want to discover the area by train, the local railway line is Wensleydale Railway which holds an exciting calendar of events throughout the year.
