The cottage was fantastic. Extremely clean and comfy, with lovely furniture and a very well equipped kitchen. A gorgeous, comfortable and well equipped cottage in a lovely, quiet Dales village.
Had a lovely few days here, went over to Askrigg for dinner, shame the takeaway in Hawes wasn't open on our last night but that's just another excuse to come back. Beautiful cottage & area, will be back as soon as possible i'm sure. xxx
We know the Yorkshire Dales very well and have stayed in many cottages, can honestly say Amblers is the best place yet. Very well equipped and perfectly designed. Nice to have views and central to absolutely everything. Thanks

The little village of Bainbridge is located in the stunning Yorkshire Dales National Park, making it a beautiful place to enjoy a relaxing self-catering break. Located just 4 miles from the bustling market town of Hawes, the village benefits from having a small local shop, a local butcher, quaint little tea rooms and a pretty village green with its own stocks! The local pub, The Rose and Crown, is reputed to be the oldest pub in Yorkshire which has been running since 1445. The pub serves food and has a lovely inglenook open fireplace to snuggle in front of on an evening.
The remains of a roman fort, Verosidum, were found to the east of the village which is now a Scheduled Ancient Monument and there is also a roman road which is popular with cyclists and walkers. The local equestrian centre offers pony trekking around the local area and fishing is available in Semerwater lakes. The village used to be at the centre of the large Wensleydale forest and still today the villagers retain their tradition of blowing the village ox horn three times at sunset each evening to call the foresters and travellers safely back to the village. The village is close to many popular attractions. The local landmark, Aysgarth Falls, a beautiful tiered waterfall that featured in the film Robin Hood Prince of Thieves, is just 10 minutes away by car and Forbidden Corner is just 14 miles away.
The charming market town of Hawes has been around as far back as 1307 and is still delightinng visitors to this day. Standing between Buttertubs and Fleet Moss, the name Hawes literally means 'a pass between mountains' and the town's beautiful setting in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales means you're never far from a breathtaking view and ideally located to access many of the Dale's most popular visistors attractions. The town's market is held every Tuesday selling a great selection of locally produced food and drink, however if you can't wait until then to sample some of the area's lovely food- pay a visit to the the Wensleydale Creamery, located just on the outskirts of the town to see how the famous cheese is made (and try a bit for yourself!). For lovers of the outdoors, there are many fantastic walks in the area such as the Hawes Mosaic Trail and circular walks to nearby Aysgarth Falls, a stunning waterfall over limestone steps.
