Dear Jo & Steve, Thank you both so much for a very warm welcome and an amazing stay at your beautiful cottage. A perfect place for us to relax, read and enjoy beautiful views and walks. The welcome gift of brownies and wine much appreciated and very delicious! (you should make those brownies - yum)! We have had a wonderful stay, sheltering from the storms, can't wait to return. Wensleydale is a favourite! Thanks again, wonderful hosts.

The cottage has been great & so cosy - especially with the gorgeous wood burner! It really has been the proper home - from - home break that we needed! We'd recommend the Wheatsheaf Inn pub in Carperby for delicious food in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere - they welcome dogs to! We hope to be back again soon, thanks again.

Lovely cottage, everything we needed. Amazing views - It is Yorkshire of course! Typical Dales weather did not stop us doing some fabulous walks within striking distance. We will be back and we will tell others!

Thank you so much for our wonderful stay. We have never felt more relaxed and comfortable in a holiday cottage! The home-cooked food was delicious and the liver treats for the dog were a lovely surprise, and went down very well with Ruby. Also thank you for letting us leave Ruby in the cottage one day it gave her a chance to rest her legs and let us take the bags to the Forbidden corner, which was great fun! What a beautiful place you have here. Thanks again

Surpassed all my expectations.
What an amazing find! This cottage has everything going for it - an excellent base from which to explore the local dales - our overall favourite has to be Swaledale. We have had the added bonus of sunny, dry weather. We've done lots of walking.
Recommend Kearton tea rooms in Thwaite for coeliacs! ( great gluten free ) lovely walk to our favourite spot
What a fabulous cottage. So much lovely attention to detail- thoughtful and really special. Thank you for the holiday info and thank you for a lovely holiday (we will miss the animals). We recommend The White Hart Country Inn at Hawes, Stone House Hotel, Brimham Rocks, Wensleydale Creamery, Malham Cove and the Hawes market on a Tuesday. We loved the hot tub too!
Great week in our favourite part of the world.
The small Wensleydale village of Askrigg is an idyllic location to enjoy a self-catering break. The sights of the Yorkshire Dales National Park surround you, with the bustling market towns of Hawes, Leyburn and Northallerton being just a short drive away where you'll find lovely independent shops, cafes and restaurants. The village is famous for being the setting of fictional Darrowby in tv's All Creatures Great and Small, though in the 18th century was hive of industry when it became a centre for the textiles and knitting trade. It is also thought that Mary Queen of Scots was imprisoned in Askrigg's Nappa Hall before being moved further down the dale to Castle Bolton. Today in the village you'll find three pubs, The Crown Inn (which dates back to 1850), The White Rose Hotel and the Kings Arms. The village also is home to some great tea rooms such as The Bake-Well, a village bakery with a delicatessen and coffee shop. Askrigg also has a village store and newsagents.
