Arkle Beck is right on your doorstep with a picturesque waterside walkway running alongside down to Reeth (3 miles) for a taste of family adventure.

Retaining much of its original charm, the living room has exposed beams, exposed bricks and a quirky window which adds to the character. A large sofa and two armchairs offer a spot to rest your feet in front of the TV, with an ornate floor lamp in the corner which is a perfect nook to read a book. The kitchen blends the old with the new, with a modern kitchen leading through to the dining room where you can gather for breakfast, lunch and dinner, separated by an original stone wall. Come rain or shine, the conservatory is a peaceful place to sit and watch the world go by, with far-reaching views over the garden and into the country. Completing the first floor is a downstairs double bedroom with a calming colour palette and ample storage for guests to fully unpack. Plantation barn is an ideal base for exploring the Yorkshire dales, just a few miles from Reeth, where there is a village store which is well stocked, and about 3 pubs all dog friendly and all serve food , an extra special mention to the Kings Arms, for good old good quality food we dined there most days as it was good value , they do fishy FridaRead morey, 2x fish and chips mushy peas for 16:95 with curry sauce and b&b an extra1:95 , we paid the same for 1 xfish and chips elsewhere and wasn't as nice , And they really make a fuss of our dogs . Back to the cottage, it is ideal for just sitting and watching the wildlife , or I did a regular morning stroll around the local area with the dogs ,before taking them out in the car visiting places , Barnard Castle is 10 miles , and the famous Tan Hill pub ( highest pub in Britain) is just 8 miles through gorgeous scenery. There's ample parking for 2x cars easily and all the amenities that you need Bar b q etc . We had a great time , The owners were easy to get hold of should you need them ( we didnt) and they are very accomadating and nice to talk . Thank you.. Hide

We had a lovely stay here. Views are beautiful and our dog loved watching the bunnies and sheep! Kitchen really well equipped and the bed was really comfy. We spent most time in the conservatory as it was a bit dark inside. Great food at the CB Inn and the local village was lovely.

Lovely cottage, situated down a quiet country lane, with the most beautiful views of the Arkengarthdale hills. The cottage was clean, comfy & had everything you need for a relaxing holiday. The upstairs lounge makes use of the views as does the ground floor conservatory. Our Cocker spaniel especially liked watching the rabbits & sheep from the loRead moreunge window. Tea, coffee, wine, biscuits & milk made a lovely welcome pack after our long journey. Reeth is only a couple of miles down the road & has Post Office, general store, bakery, gift shops, pubs, cafe, & toilets & is in a superb setting. Richmond is 10 miles away & is well worth a visit, the river, castle & shops make this an ideal day trip. There is a pub a few minutes walk from cottage ( The CB Inn) which has a very good reputation, but be warned it gets very busy & you need to book ahead. We loved our holiday, Arkengarthdale & Swaledale have some of the most beautiful scenery & with walks from the door we couldnt fault it. The information folder in cottage was excellent as was the owners communication. Hide
