Property code: OC-WA037

Nestled into the cliffs at Staithes, this three-storey former fisherman’s cottage is a very special setting for a holiday on the Yorkshire coast. Dating back to the 19th century, this period property boasts extraordinary sea views, especially from its roof terrace. Two bedrooms sleep up to four guests, and the interiors are simply brimming with character and charm. You’ll be hard pushed to find a better place to call home for a few days.

After ascending the 12 steps up to the cottage, you can make your way into the kitchen/dining room and switch the kettle on for a relaxing cuppa, best enjoyed at the dining table which seats all four guests. As well as the luxury of cosy underfloor heating, this space has everything you could need to prepare and cook delicious meals – it even has a pizza oven! Climb the stairs to the first floor to find two beautifully decorated double bedrooms and a family bathroom. Another set of stairs brings you to a spacious lounge where you can light the wood burner and settle in for a cosy film night on the TV or slide open the doors to the roof terrace and bask in the sunshine. A table and chairs are provided out here so you can sit and admire the sea views, and there is an outdoor dog shower if your four-legged family member needs to clean their sandy paws.

A golden sandy beach is only 350 metres from the front door, so be sure to bring your bucket and spade. More coastal fun can be found at Whitby, 10.5 miles away, or Saltburn-by-the-Sea, 9 miles away. Or if you fancy a brisk walk, you can pick up the Cleveland Way from the doorstep and venture into the North York Moors National Park for some epic scenery.

We had an amazing family holiday in Staithes. The North East coast makes a wonderful change from Devon and Cornwall. There are some wonderful unspoilt hidden gems. If you dont want to explore you can get everything you need in this village. We lived in the pizza and sweet shop! The cottage is beautifully restored and full of appliances that make yoRead moreur life easy! We left a bag behind and the owner and housekeeper really went out of their way to get it back to us, which I was so grateful for. Thank you so much, really worth the visit. Hide

I have already raised some issues with your office Fridge and Freezer were filthy. Mould in the freezer come. No lockable gate in the outdoor space, door completely missing. Very unsafe, says was dog safe. Not safe at all for any toddler! We did not use the fridge for any baby food/milk, just to dirty. Very disappointed!
