Scalby cottages

Scalby is a village on the outskirts of Scarborough and on the road to Whitby. The village has a general store, and the two popular pubs and two restaurants making it a good location for a meal or a social evening when staying on holiday. As well as a Methodist Chapel, there is St Laurence's Church, a Grade II listed building dating back to 1150 AD. It was presented on that date by Eustace Fitz John and is the oldest recorded building in the village. There are tennis courts, bowling green and playing fields for cricket and football. Recently, Scarborough Rugby Club moved their ground to the village.

There is a regular bus service linking the village to Scarborough and Whitby. For the more energetic, take the "Cinder Track" either on foot or by bike, and enjoy the stunning coastal views along the way. Scalby is also on the route of the Tabular Hills Walk which links Scarborough to the market town of Helmsley on the western side of the North York Moors National Park.
