At a glance

  • Traditional three-bedroom stone cottage on the seafront at Sandsend
  • Superb location just steps from the beach with delightful views over the estuary and sea
  • Plenty of room to relax and entertain, with a lounge, snug, conservatory and outdoor seating area

Property code: OC-WA081

This cute cottage, in an enviable position in Sandsend, has views of the estuary and the sea and is only moments away from the beach – you could not be in a better spot. This cosy, spacious and well-equipped property also benefits from a conservatory and rear decking area with outside seating to sit and while away an hour or two in peace and quiet and bathe in the sunshine which is caught here all day.

The accommodation is over three floors with an ultra-modern kitchen and bathroom, main bedroom with balcony and a useful second sitting room, just right for teenagers or for a little me time, especially as it has a view of the sea. On entering the front door, you will find a useful small hallway. This is a great place to store your muddy boots after a day’s walking on the moors or your buckets and spades after a day on the beach. The lounge is cosy and well furnished. A comfortable sofa and two occasional chairs are there for you to relax on whilst watching a favourite film on the Smart TV. There is a wood burner in a decorative fireplace which means that whatever the weather, this cottage will be warm and welcoming. If you don’t want to watch tv then the view of the seaside will surely enthral you. The kitchen is well equipped and contemporary with a view over the rear decked area. It is just the place for the whole family to gather and enjoy each other’s company. The island comfortably seats four and has two extra chairs. This room leads into the conservatory so why not grab a book, take a seat on the two-seater sofa, put your feet up and relax and let the warm sun wash over you? There’s also a TV here. A bathroom with a bath with a triple jet shower basin finishes the floor. The first floor begins with a snug: a lovely room, just right for sitting and watching the world go by with a stunning view of the sea and two leather tub chairs will keep you comfortable. This room leads to the staircase to the second floor. Bedroom one is a double with an enviable balcony. Bedroom two is another double (restricted head height on one side of the bed) and the third is a cheery twin with views of the beach and seaside. Outdoors, there is a raised rear decking area which is sunny all day. There is outdoor seating for six which is accessed from the conservatory. This is a perfect place to sit and enjoy a meal or a glass of something cool and watch the sun go down.

This is a desirable position for those wanting to enjoy the attractions of Sandsend with its beautiful beach, stunning views, renowned restaurant and great cafes and pubs close by. However, it is just as easy to venture further afield as the North York Moors are on your doorstep and the bustling town of Whitby is only 3 miles away (an approximate 1-hour walk along the sands). Sandsend is a traditional coastal town which has a wealth of activities to suit everyone. Whatever you choose to do you are spoilt for choice in this area of Yorkshire. There is something for everyone, historic castles, Whitby Abbey, museums, farms, superb local markets with the very best Yorkshire produce and of course restaurants and tea rooms too numerous to mention. No one can leave the Yorkshire coast without having at least one portion of fish and chips – they’re possibly the best in the country!

Property was dirty in places, particularly the floors. Could do with a deep clean to remove debris and cobwebs

We had a lovely time, the place is so close to the beach with lots to do in the area. Parking is a problem though, and there were a lot of dog hairs from the previous guests

Lovely cottage in a perfect location to enjoy the charm of Sandsend. We were a group of 6 ladies and we found the cottage to be comfortable, well equipped and clean. We particularly enjoyed the island unit in the kitchen, perfect for socialising and dining. Would definitely recommend.
