Property Name: Fieldside Cottage, Littlewood Terrace 

Description: Semi Detached Character Cottage 

Fieldside Cottage is unsuitable for wheelchair users or anyone with mobility issues due to the steep staircase within the property and the 5 steep steps into the garden and front door.

The cottage is built over 2 floors and sleeps up to two people and 1 dog in one bedroom.  The bedroom is located on the first floor with a double bed.  The bedroom is ensuite with a WC, Shower Cubicle and sink.  The bedroom is accessed via a very steep narrow staircase. 

  Pre-arrival 

The nearest bus stop is: The upper village of Robin Hood's Bay on Thorpe Lane 

The nearest train station is: Station Square, Whitby 

The nearest food shop is Muir Lea Stores (01947 880316) in the lower village.  There are  three public houses in the lower village, The Bay Hotel, Ye Dolphin and The Laurel Inn.  The Bay Hotel and Ye Dolphin serve food daily along with several cafes.

The nearest petrol is Sainsburys, 4 miles north

Mobility equipment hire is Whitby DAG, Flowergate, Whitby

  Arrival and car parking 

There is no parking adjacent to the cottage, but we provide a parking permit for the two public pay and display car parks located in the upper village.  The walk to the public car park is approx. 500 meters or 10 minutes walk up the hill.   

If additional parking is required daily payments can be made at the pay and display machines, or permits for longer stays can be obtained from the Post Office (01947 880202). Additional permits for Fisherhead Car Park may possibly be obtained from The Old School House (01947 880723). The majority of our guests park in the dock in the lower village and carry their luggage up to the cottage.  Please observe any parking restrictions and return to the car park once unloaded. Please note that the car parks at the top of the hill are free during the winter months. 

Main entrance 

The walk from the Dock to the cottage is approx. 2 minutes and is up hill via a number of stone steps.  The width of the path leading to the property is approx. 6 foot.  Once at the property we have 5 steep stone steps down into the garden leading to the front entrance door.

The key can be obtained from the key safe located at the right handside of the entrance door to the property 

The main door is the only entrance to the property and this is approx. 3 foot wide with a small threshold. 

Kitchen/Living/Dining Room 

The flooring is oak with a large rug 

The furniture is movable

The door to the staircase leading to the 1st floor bedroom is approx. 2.5 foot

Bedroom and ensuite

There are approx. 11 steep steps up to the bedroom.  There is a rope handrail on the staircase. 

The furniture in the bedroom is moveable 

The door into the ensuite bathroom is narrow.  There is a WC, shower cubicle and handbasin. Please note the bathroom suite has not been adapted for impaired mobility. The flooring is original wood floorboards.

Outdoor Facilities 

There is a garden outside the property which is enclosed with a picket fence.  The garden path is concrete and paving and has a number of steps which in areas are uneven. There is plenty of outside lighting in the garden. 

All light switches in the property are located at shoulder height 

Description

Fieldside is your quintessential one up one down chocolate box cottage with a private enclosed south facing garden, tucked away in the old village and only two minutes from the beach. Fieldside is grade II listed and has been recently renovated to a very high standard retaining the old features including exposed beams, original stripped floorboards and open stone and brick walls. This is complemented by feature reclaimed ships lighting and modern lighting, all dimmable to create the right ambience.

There are a few steps down to the property.

GROUND FLOOR:
Lounge: TV with Freesat and DVD & Bluetooth speaker. Open fire in feature fireplace, hand painted leather sofa, oak folding table, oak flooring and beamed ceiling. Dimmable original ships lighting.
Kitchen: Open plan bespoke fitted kitchen with handmade doors and beautiful reclaimed slate worktops, fridge with ice box, gas hob, electric oven and microwave. Dimmable spot lighting and feature under unit lighting.

FIRST FLOOR:
Bedroom 1:
Double feature pine bedstead, bedside tables and beamed ceiling, open to the eaves. Original stripped floorboards and exposed feature brick wall. Antique pine chest of drawers and hanging space. TV with Freesat.
En-suite: Shower, toilet, washbasin.


Pets: One large or two small dogs welcome.
Parking: A parking permit for the Council car parks is provided.
Garden: Enclosed private garden, lit with reclaimed ships lighting, with bench, patio table and chairs, chiminea and barbecue.
Heating: Gas central heating. Open fire in lounge.
Short breaks: Not accepted at peak times.
Notes: Towels are provided. There are a few steps down to the property. As this is an older property the stairs to the first floor are fairly steep. No infants. Free unlimited WiFi is available. No smoking at this property. Mobile phone signal is variable.

Robin Hoods Bay 
One of the jewels in the crown of the North East coastline is the small fishing village of Robin Hoods Bay. Located five miles south of Whitby and 15 miles north of Scarborough, it is the perfect place for a self-catering holiday. Steeped in history this quaint village with its winding cobbled streets, dotted with cafes, pubs and shops it is well catered for visitors. It boasts a stunning beach at the foot of the bay which provides a paradise for family fun. Children will be entertained with plenty of rock pools to splash in and fossils to hunt, while adults can take in the breathtaking views of the cliffs which tell the enchanting history of the place.
