Ravenscar
Ravenscar is a coastal village 10 miles north of Scarborough. It sits on the cliff tops with dramatic views along the Heritage Coast and across Robin Hoods Bay. The National Trust operate a visitor centre in the village and own much land nearby including the historic archaeological remains of Peak Alum Works. The cliff top Alum works was once part of an important industry for dyeing and tanning leather. For those interested in walking, there are fantastic coastal and moorland routes centred on the village. The Cleveland Way passes through and the Lyke Wake Walk across the moors ends here. The National Cycle route number 1 also passes through with Scarborough and Whitby each being about 11 traffic free miles away.
