Aislaby Cottages

Aislaby, just three miles out of Whitby, is a long village of stone built houses overlooking the River Esk and having views across the valley to the far side of Sleights. Many of the cottages are built from stone from the local quarry. The Aislaby quarry was reopened in 2002 and supplies some of the finest sandstone for buildings in London and English seaside piers. It is a quiet village with the road through being a spur off the A171 but boasts an inn, The Forge, which provides good bar meals. The nearest shops including a family butcher, a family bakers and a Post Office are in Sleights, less than a mile away, down the beautifully named, “Featherbed Lane”.

The closest town is Whitby, just ten minutes drive away. Here you can enjoy the heritage, quaint shops and, of course, the fish and chips in this jewel of the Yorkshire coast. Further down the coast is Scarborough, a bustling resort where you can experience traditional seaside activities as well as the numerous events at the Scarborough Spa, the Outdoor Theatre and the Stephen Joseph Theatre in the Round. Whilst you are here, don't miss taking in some of the picturesque villages along the coastline. Robin Hoods Bay, Staithes and Runswick Bay are all worth a visit. The North York Moors National Park is close by offering a completely different landscape in this, the largest expanse of heather moorland in England. Browse our range of Aislaby cottages to plan your perfect Yorkshire getaway.
