Located on the outskirts of York, Haxby is perfectly placed for exploring this stunning city just five miles drive away. There is a regular bus service into the city centre as well as to the shopping centres on the outskirts. In York there is plenty to see and do. One of the best ways to experience the architecture and Roman heritage is to walk along the walls that encircle the city. A visit to the Minster is a must, and the National Railway Museum provides entertainment for the whole family, and free entry!
Within Haxby, you will find shops, pubs and restaurants, many situated within the central conservation area. Beyond the town, green belt land protects the rural surroundings through which are a number of walks.
Haxby is a good location for travelling to the North York Moors, the Yorkshire Wolds and the Yorkshire coast. Some of the area's best visitor attractions such as Castle Howard (film location of Brideshead Revisited), Flamingo Land Theme Park and Zoo, and Eden Camp are all within easy reach and well worth a visit.
