The Penthouse is just what it says, a Penthouse with the most fantastic views of the Sea from most windows.  It boasts French windows form the living room which open up onto a balcony and a front row view of the sea. There are two bedrooms and lovely contemporary furnishings.  It is only a short walk across West Cliff to the famous whalebones and steps down to the beachside and piers.  Why not take a walk along the seafront and cross the swing bridge to visit the cobbled streets of Whitby’s Old Town.

Whitby is packed with things to do for those of all ages, the famous Cistercian Whitby Abbey and visitor centre with its associations to Bram Stokers Dracula.  Eat in one of the many renowned fish and chip restaurants or sit on the Victorian bandstand looking out to sea and have your fish and chips in the open air.  Festivals abound in Whitby, there are Goth, Steampunk, Pirates, Folk and many more.  Venture further afield and wonder at the beauty of the Moors, glorious in any season.

With everything Whitby has to offer on your doorstep this apartment is an ideal choice.  It is great for couples or friends to enjoy a holiday in the beautiful part of Yorkshire.  Whatever your interests there is something for everyone, historic castles, ancient abbeys, renowned museums, superb local markets with the very best Yorkshire produce and of course restaurants and tea rooms too numerous to mention.  One visit will never be enough.

Entrance hallway: Entering the carpeted entrance hall you will find steps leading to the Penthouse which is on the second floor.  Once inside the apartment is all on one level.

Hallway/dining area: As you walk in you are met with a window which looks out directly to sea with the Whitby Pier’s in the distance.  There are two more windows which flood this area with light.  A contemporary white table and chairs sit right in front of the window, one of the best views of the sea whilst enjoying a meal.

Kitchen/living room: This is a super contemporary room with the addition of French windows leading out to a balcony which looks right over the sea, watch the weather change while sitting on the sofa, the sea really is that close.  There are two large comfy chairs and a co-ordinating sofa, more than enough space to stretch out and relax.  There is a large freeview TV and coffee tables.

The kitchen:  High gloss with a stunning floor with sparkles which adds to the designer effect.  A wall mounted built in oven and microwave, washing machine and slimline dishwasher, built in fridge and ceramic hob plus a grey and sparkly worktop complete the on trend look of this super kitchen and if that wasn’t enough the view is simply magnificent, a sea view par excellence !   A welcome pack is included.

Bedroom 1:  A pretty room with a  double bed, bedside tables and mirrored wardrobes.  There is a large window and two Velux windows and there is yet another view of the sea and piers in the distance. Through the Velux you can see the moors just popping their heads into view.

Area Information

Whitby is a popular choice for visitors all year round. It is well known for its long sandy beach and delicious seafood. The river Esk flows through the town to the sea and cottages are perched on the hills on each side, with cobbled streets and historic yards providing a maze of places to explore. The town has a fantastic mix of modern shops and services, traditional stores and boutique shops. Whitby jet continues to be made into beautiful jewellery and sold in a number of shops.  There are plenty of excellent restaurants which serve local fish and seafood, as well as a wonderful choice of cafes and tearooms.

The ruins of Whitby Abbey stand dominantly on the clifftop and can be reached by climbing the 199 steps from the old town. The Abbey is said to have been the inspiration for Bram Stoker's novel Count Dracula, and its gothic splendour is the perfect place from which to take in some truly stunning views over the town, harbour and coastline. Whitby harbour is steeped in history and visitors can see where British explorer Captain James Cook first worked as an apprentice before setting sail and discovering Australia. A statue of this great explorer stands proudly above the town, along with some huge whalebones, a sign of the town's maritime history. The harbour is a buzz of activity and you can enjoy early mornings watching the fishing boats come ashore before getting first choice of their catch of the day.

There's always something happening throughout the town, with festivals and fairs are held throughout the year. These include Whitby Folk Week and the Whitby Regatta, and there are two popular Goth festivals each year. For more information on Whitby and the surrounding area and local events see our Yorkshire Coast Guide and the Festivals & Events Guide.
