Stunning views of the sea, the harbour and the Abbey can be seen from every room in this gorgeous cottage. Madeline's View is a lovely Grade II listed cottage built in 1735, located in an elevated position on The Cragg on the West Cliff, close to the pier and the beach. The cottage offers all modern comforts, good quality fixtures and furnishings throughout and retains some original features such as wooden beams.
HIGHER GROUND FLOOR
Hallway: Entrance to the apartment.
Kitchen/Lounge/Dining Area: Fridge with icebox, gas hob, electric oven with grill, washing machine, dishwasher, microwave and coffee machine. TV with Freesat, DVD, WiFi and dining table and chairs.
Bathroom: Bath, shower over bath, toilet, washbasin and heated towel rail.
Bedroom 1: Double bed, wardrobe, dressing table, bedside cabinets.
Bedroom 2: Twin beds, bedside table, some hanging space.
Pets: Sorry, no pets.
Parking: Scratchcards for zoned on-street parking will be left in the property.
Heating: Gas central heating.
Short breaks: Accepted all year round, booking restrictions apply for peak times.

WE HAD A WONDERFUL STAY IN WHITBY WHICH I TRUELY BELIEVE WAS DOWN TO THE FABULOUSLY SITUATED, BEAUTIFUL COTTAGE WITH SUCH SPECTACLAR VIEWS. I DON'T WANT TO OVER PRAISE INCASE I FIND ITS NOT AVAILABLE WHEN WE WANT TO BOOK AGAIN NEXT YEAR. THANK YOU.

Whitby is a popular choice for visitors all year round. It is well known for its long sandy beach and delicious seafood. The river Esk flows through the town to the sea and cottages are perched on the hills on each side, with cobbled streets and historic yards providing a maze of places to explore. The town has a fantastic mix of modern shops and services, traditional stores and boutique shops. Whitby jet continues to be made into beautiful jewellery and sold in a number of shops. There are plenty of excellent restaurants which serve local fish and seafood, as well as a wonderful choice of cafes and tearooms.
The ruins of Whitby Abbey stand dominantly on the clifftop and can be reached by climbing the 199 steps from the old town. The Abbey is said to have been the inspiration for Bram Stoker's novel Count Dracula, and its gothic splendour is the perfect place from which to take in some truly stunning views over the town, harbour and coastline. Whitby harbour is steeped in history and visitors can see where British explorer Captain James Cook first worked as an apprentice before setting sail and discovering Australia. A statue of this great explorer stands proudly above the town, along with some huge whalebones, a sign of the town's maritime history. The harbour is a buzz of activity and you can enjoy early mornings watching the fishing boats come ashore before getting first choice of their catch of the day.
There's always something happening throughout the town, with festivals and fairs are held throughout the year. These include Whitby Folk Week and the Whitby Regatta, and there are two popular Goth festivals each year.
