Whitby welcomes pets
We all look forward to going on holiday but I am sure that our pets also enjoy a change. Some people automatically think of kennels and catteries but what about the pets coming on holiday too? Many enquiries to our office in Whitby are about whether we have any properties that take pets. Here at Ingrid Flute’s Yorkshire Holiday Cottages, we are very pleased to have a great many that are pet friendly. Of these, many will take just the one pet but others are happy to take more – please ask.
There are great walks for your four-legged friend in Whitby and the surrounding area that are idyllic for dog walking; for a longer walk you can go to Ruswarp by the river Esk or, along the beach or the footpath to Sandsend. Do be careful though, as there are restrictions about going on the beaches between 1st May and the 30th September. There are signs up at places where these restrictions apply. Please see visit the Scarborough council website to find out more.
Additional walks with your pet in Whitby include the Whitby Ghost Walk with Mr Harry Collett, the Man in Black. Harry invites you to join him on a 75 minute tour to discover the strange and supernatural tales of murder, mystery and suspense. Make sure that your pet is not of a nervous disposition! In contrast, a walk around the grounds of Whitby Abbey is very relaxing and gives great views over the town. For the more adventurous, there is a wonderful walk along the old railway line from Whitby to Robin Hood’s Bay. Called the, “Cinder Path” it is well used, safe and mainly very flat. You can join the path by Beevers Carpet Store just off Chubb Hill and it takes you over the old viaduct and on, via Stainsacre and Hawsker to Robin Hood’s Bay. Now, if your pet enjoys travelling then there are several possibilities. From April to the end of October, steam trains run from Whitby through Grosmont to Pickering and pets are very welcome passengers. For more information, telephone 01751 472508 or email email@example.com
Pets are also welcome on any of the pleasure boats run by Whitby Coastal Cruises that go out of Whitby, contact Paul Hobson on 07981 712419 or Bryan Clarkson on 07941 450381.
Useful information for holidaying with your pet

Also at this site is based Clip N Snip which provides dog grooming services, dog cleaning, dog clipping and dog nail clipping for all dog breeds. We all like to pamper from time to time! In case of an emergency, touch wood it’s not needed, but there is also the Clevedale Veterinary Practice at 10 The Parade, Whitby. YO21 3JP, telephone 01947 825 042. This deals with small animals and has a 24 hour emergency service, 365 days a year.
So, why shouldn’t they have a good time too as there are plenty of properties to choose from at Ingrid Flute’s Yorkshire Holiday Cottages which will accept pets. All that we ask is that pets do not go in bedrooms or on furniture. With the cost of kennels and catteries, our charge of £15 per pet per week means that there is no need to leave them behind when you come on holiday.
