Located near the Pennines, the village of Romaldkirk hasn’t changed much since the 18th century with many of its houses dating back to this era. The village has a pretty Norman church, known locally as the “Cathedral of the Dales” and a a great local pub famed for the quality of its food. The village is a checkpoint for historic car rallies and there is a village fair held on the third Saturday in August each year with live music, games, competitions and table top sales.
The market town of Barnard Castle is less than 8 miles away with a fantastic selection of attractions, restaurants and shops. If you’re in the area why not pay a visit to the Bowes Museum to see a stunning selection of galleries or visit Egglestone Abbey, a the ruins of a Premonstratensian monastery located near Barnard Castle.
