Perched on the edge of the Northumberland National Park, Wooler is a small town full of character and is very popular with the walkers amongst us. Surrounded by some stunning scenery, there are plenty of natural beauty spots dotted around in nearby locations... and, of course, the Scottish Border is not too far from here.
Within the National Park there are plenty of way-marked trails for walking, cycling and mountain biking. For a gentler day out, visit some of the lovely Northumbrian towns such as Alnwick where you can explore the castle and gardens. The coast, with favourite spots like Seahouses, Bamburgh and Lindisfarne, are all within reach for a day out.
