Spittal is thought by some to be the one of the best seaside resorts in Britain, its fantastic beach was even frequented by the artist L.S Lowry! The village has a local shop and there are several great pubs in the village to enjoy a drink after a long day exploring. The village’s proximity to Berwick-upon-Tweed means you are in easy reach of a great variety of shops and restaurants and you may enjoy a walk along the Elizabethan walls surrounding the village. Paxton House in Berwick is well worth a visit with its lovely gardens and tea rooms and The Eyemouth Maritime Centre and Eyemouth Museum (under 10 miles from Spittal) makes for a great day out. While you’re in the area why not pay a visit to Alnwick Castle (Hogwarts School in Harry Potter) or Lindisfarne Castle, 10 miles away in Alnwick?
