Description
Situated in the beautiful picture postcard village of Thornton le Dale near Pickering, Willowfield Cottage is a charming luxury property with a pleasant lawned front garden with seating and a large enclosed patio with outside seating to the back, perfect for children or to enjoy a glass of wine and a barbecue.
The cottage is set over two floors and has a spacious modern kitchen, an elegant living room with a wood burning stove, comfortable seating and a bay window, a separate dining room with a second wood burning stove, downstairs cloakroom, three beautiful bedrooms and a family bathroom. The cottage has been furnished, decorated and presented to a very high standard and with great attention to detail. There is some original artwork and beautiful antique furnishings and ornaments, which give the cottage a unique style and character.
The property is ideal for families, romantic getaways, time away with friends or for walkers or cyclists looking to explore the local area. Willowfield Cottage is located very close to the centre of the village and its charming shops, pubs, tearooms and ice-cream parlours. It is just a few minutes drive to the popular market town of Pickering with the North Yorkshire Railway where you can board a steam train running along the picturesque Esk Valley to reach the historic seaside town of Whitby or stop at some beautiful villages walking in the countryside on the North York Moors. Some famous tourist attractions such as Dalby Forest, Flamingo Land theme park and Castle Howard are just an easy drive away and the property is just 18 miles from the coast, and a 40 minute drive to York.
GROUND FLOOR:
Entrance: Into a small porch with an area for hanging coats.
Hallway: An elegant antique chest of drawers full of games and jigsaws and with information about the house and the area. There are two armchairs and stairs to the first floor.
Lounge: A charming light and airy room with a bay window and a wood burning stove, two armchairs, a three-seater sofa, a coffee table and a large TV with Freeview and a DVD player. This pleasant room is a perfect space in which to sit and relax after a day out and about exploring the area.
Dining Room: The dining room has another wood burning stove and a large elegant dining table which seats six. It is a great place to gather together and enjoy a family dinner or a nice chat over a glass of wine. There is also a dresser, and a chest of drawers, and two luxurious armchairs next to the wood burner, in case you fancy curling up with the fire roaring and a good book in this warm and cozy room.
Kitchen: The elegant modern state of the art kitchen is very spacious, with fridge, freezer, electric ceramic hob and two electric ovens, both with grills, microwave, a dishwasher, a washing machine, Nescafe Dolce Gusto coffee machine, a small table and chairs and a door leading out to the back patio and rear private parking space.
Downstairs Cloakroom: This clean and modern cloakroom has a mirror, washbasin and toilet.
FIRST FLOOR:
Bedroom 1: A well-presented room with a large antique double bed, a period feature fireplace, two armchairs, ample storage with a wardrobe, a chest of drawers, a writing table and bedside tables with lamps.
Bedroom 2: This lovely bedroom has a double bed, another period feature fireplace with a mirror, a chest of drawers, a wardrobe, a bedside cabinet, a chair and an armchair.
Bedroom 3: A charming single bedroom with a single bed, chest of drawers, a mirror and some hanging space.
Bathroom: Bath, walk-in rainfall shower, a washbasin, toilet and heated towel rail and large antique mirror.

Parking: Private off street parking for one medium sized car at the back and unrestricted on street parking in front of the property.
Garden: Enclosed garden to the front of the house set to lawn with a wrought iron table and four chairs on a decorative paved area surrounded by lavender, rose and thyme bushes. There is an enclosed pebbled patio area at the back of the property with comfortable outside seating, table and firepit. At the side of the house is a small shed which is available for guests who wish to bring their own bikes. Next to this is a small wrought iron table and two chairs providing a quiet spot to read and relax.
Heating: Gas central heating throughout. Two wood burning stoves. (Note that the upstairs fireplaces are for decoration only).
Short Breaks: Accepted all year round.

Just 2 miles away is the market town of Pickering, home of the famous North York Moors Steam railway and close by are numerous tourist attractions including the resorts of Whitby, Scarbrough and Filey, Castle Howard and the ancient city of York. A regular bus service runs from the centre of the village connecting to these attractions or you may just wish to enjoy the many scenic walks that surround the village with a particularly leisurely walk just up the valley to the tiny hamlet of Ellerburn which has an interesting Saxon Church or visit the much photographed thatched cottage of Belle Isle alongside the stream which lies within a few minutes' walk of Forge Cottage. Whatever type of holiday you are looking for be it a peaceful get-away or an activity filled family break, Forge Cottage is ideally located and equipped to provide this.
