The electrical sockets are approximately 13” from floor level – above the work surfaces in the kitchen. Two sockets are the back of a cupboard. 

Door widths are a standard 27/28” 

The shower is situated in the bath – no handrail at present 

Bath height is 21” 



Located in the heart of this much loved village, this charming, character cottage is part of the original old forge dating back to the 14th century. Situated alongside the babbling stream which runs throughout the village, the property has many delightful features including beamed ceilings and exposed stonework. It is cosily furnished with a soothing interior which provides a wonderfully relaxing base from which to explore this historic region and the whole of the east coastline. A patio area both to the front and side of the property which overlooks the stream offers a totally relaxing place from which to watch the world go by or enjoy a relaxing glass of wine or two! The village is perhaps one of the prettiest in Yorkshire with a variety of tea-rooms, excellent pubs serving good food, craft and gift shops, ice cream parlours and a small chocolate factory renowned for its handmade chocolates. Everyday supplies can be obtained in the village as there is a small grocery store, post office, newsagents, baker and hairdresser.

Area Information

Just 2 miles away is the market town of Pickering, home of the famous North York Moors Steam railway and close by are numerous tourist attractions including the resorts of Whitby, Scarbrough and Filey, Castle Howard and the ancient city of York. A regular bus service runs from the centre of the village connecting to these attractions or you may just wish to enjoy the many scenic walks that surround the village with a particularly leisurely walk just up the valley to the tiny hamlet of Ellerburn which has an interesting Saxon Church or visit the much photographed thatched cottage of Belle Isle alongside the stream which lies within a few minutes' walk of Forge Cottage.  Whatever type of holiday you are looking for be it a peaceful get-away or an activity filled family break, Forge Cottage is ideally located and equipped to provide this.
